Diagnosis of IBS
Hi everyone. Can I ask what sort of diagnostic tests you have had and what sort of referrals I should ask my GP for? My symptoms started about 5 years ago after a meal out. I had really bad diarrhoea for the following 48 hours that then recurred every few days for about 12 weeks. I put it down to a bad

Confused!!
As yet I have not been diagnosed with endo but have so many of the symptoms on here that I am convinced that it is. However, I went to see the Consultant last week to be told that he didn't think it was endo he thought it was ibs! He came to this conclusion as he did an examination internal and external

Dicycloverine Hydrochloride tablets for IBS C - has anyone had any success with this medication?
I have been having a flare up of IBS. Mebeverine and Peppermint Capsules no longer seem to work for me so my GP has given me Dicycloverine 20mg. The main feature of my IBS is sluggish bowels and abdominal distension. It seems all the air in my colon stops things moving along. Just wondering if anyone

Sigmoidoscopy next week
I was diagnosed with ibs a few years ago but recently have had excruciating pain in the lower left side of my abdomen spreading up towards the middle. I have seen a gastro consultant and they think ibs may have been misdiagnosed, I have a sigmoidoscopy booked for Monday to have a look inside my colon

Mebeverine
I posted just over a week ago about my recurrent tummy troubles which I believe is caused by endo. I've been waking up in pain most nights with agonising tummy pains that on Thursday last week I contemplated driving myself to a&e. I've been to my gp today who has prescribed me Mebeverine to take for

Is this ibs?
My husband had an attack of abdominal pain with fever for the first time about ten years ago which the doctor diagnosed as ibs. He was prescribed mebeverine (not sure if that helped but he recovered in about 48 hours anyway. Since then he has suffered the same pain about once a year or so, sometimes

Any advice welcomed. I am at the end of my tether. Spending hours in the toilet with IBS -D and abdominal pain.
I have had IBS-D for about 2 years. Prior to that I always tended towards constipation, but it changed overnight to the opposite problem. It has been up and down in severity at different times, and I have been managing it with 30mg codeine x 4 daily, and mebeverine and lansaprozole daily. About 6 weeks

hello My IBS seems to have flared up terribly since middle of Feb this year. I went to my GP last week and she prescribed Apercap (peppermint capsules) as the Mebeverine I had last year made my bloating feel even worse. The peppermint hasnt really helped either. I feel like i constantly have wind

In the past six weeks I have had problems with bloating on and off but in the last two weeks am having constant pain in abdomen and back.
I am 70 years of age and have been to doctors and he has prescribed Mebeverine and peppermint capsules. Does not seem to be doing any good. My bloating feeling comes and goes. Am I too old to be having IBS?

Has anyone tried peppermint capsules? Why is my IBS worse after an evening meal?
I have been taking Mebeverine for some time. It helps with the abdominal pain after eating but not with the bloating I experience. I find I'm worse in the evening, I'm not sure why. I can eat breakfast with no symptoms, lunch varies but dinner is guaranteed to cause bloating and discomfort, and often

Gas Pains?
I wondered how common gas/wind type pains are. For years I had mainly the lower left pain but this flare my pain seems to move from moment to moment almost. It can be really low over pelvic region or up under my left rib or even higher in the diaphragm between my breast. Burping a lot as well. Sometimes
