small bowel blockage
I’ve just come out of hospital. I was admitted as an emergency for bowel obstruction. It was so painful. Investigation showed scar tissue adhesions from my initial operations. Thought I’d share this important advice: It began with constipation and like the majority of people I took laxatives. No! The

*colonoscopy update*
i just wanted to come on here and update on my colonoscopy results. I posted in here a month or so ago stating I had blood in my stool and pressure in my rectum. I finally decided to get the colonoscopy and he found a 2cm polyp. My doctor kept telling me he was not worried at all. Can they tell by looking

Colon blockage
I am writing for my husband who is in the ER at this time. He has been diagnosed with a distal colonic blockage. The doctor will do a sigmoid colonoscopy to determine what is causing the blockage and how to treat it. He had a his RP in December of 2021 and 38 sessions of radiation. I’m wondering if anyone

Movicol help (again!)
I have taken a sachet of Movicol every night for the past 7 years after a rectocele repair and hysterectomy. On top of the IBS I've suffered from for 30 years, the need to take Movicol is the bane of my life because it exacerbates the IBS symptoms. I've recently had to increase the Movicol to 1.5 sachets

Weight loss due to Progynova?
I feel like it never rains but pours atm! I discovered today I have lost 1.5kg in the last month. Obviously will be making an appt with the doctor tomorrow. Weight loss is listed as a side effect of Progynova but just wondering how often it happens and to what degree; gain seems more common. Has anyone

Upper Stomach Bloating
Hi fellow sufferers. As a long time IBS sufferer I am really struggling with wind and bloating high up in my stomach, it also gravitates to under left rib, also a tremendous feeling of pressure just below my waist, small intestine area I believe. I’m constantly ‘burping’ and feel quite sick a lot of

contact urticaria
hi, does anybody have any experience of contact urticaria or any effective treatment? I have PV and my symptoms are skin itchiness after shower but also when the skin is rubbed (contact urticaria ). Moisturiser tends to irritate it, and I have tried different antihistamines and they don’t seem to work

depression, anxiety and stress
I've had IBD for the past 4 years now, I was first diagnosed in 2019, at first I didn't think much of it but as I got older my symptoms seemed to get worse. I was never the "depressed stress or anxious" person but as life continued with this disease it has taken a huge toll on me. I really don't know

Thyroid and Folate deficiency
I've been on Levothyroxine for many years (100mg). After contracting Covid last year and being unable to match previous physical performances, I was diagnosed with a folate deficiency. I was told this was common post Covid, was prescribed folic acid tablets and saw an immediate improvement. I was told

Rectal fissure - healed!
I'm not sure if this is the correct group to post in as I do not have IBS, however for 10+ years, I had a rectal fissure that just wouldn’t go away. I live in the Caribbean, have a healthy lifestyle and diet. Years ago, when first diagnosed with the fissure, I was prescribed Lidoprocto suppositories

Bile Acid Diarrhoea
I have this condition and take colestyramine daily which controls it well. I recently asked my GP to have my fat soluble vitamins checked (A,D and K, I believe) in a blood test as this has not been checked in a long time. The email! came back saying there was no indication for this. The literature

Should PPIs be stopped when stomach bugs get a grip?
Since increasing omeprazole by 10mg ( 30mg ttl ) have had mild diarrhoea the odd day or two, but now had explosive squits for 7 days. Stopped omeprazole about 5 days ago, not even getting acid reflux now, but also no appetite and whatever I eat turns to water and is expelled about 4 hours later. It's

recurrence of diverticulitis after surgery?
Has anyone had a recurrence of diverticulitis after bowel resection. I feel like I’m having a diverticulitis attack but I can’t get into see my GP because it’s so difficult to get into see them at the moment. I’m very dismay because my operation was quite complex. Any answers very gratefully received
