recurrence of diverticulitis after surgery?

Has anyone had a recurrence of diverticulitis after bowel resection. I feel like I’m having a diverticulitis attack but I can’t get into see my GP because it’s so difficult to get into see them at the moment. I’m very dismay because my operation was quite complex. Any answers very gratefully received. I wonder what this could be if it’s not diverticulitis.

Call your surgeon if you can't reach your GP. If you can't reach either of them go to the emergency room. I think you have to be careful with any worrying symptoms that occur after you have recently had surgery.

hi and thank you so much for the reply . My surgery was four years ago, well the first one, then I had a reversal of my ileostomy, and then appendectomy because of adhesions. That last op was 2 years ago. Been reasonably well except for a few niggles Considering how complicated it all was. This feels like a diverticulitis attack. Better today than I was yesterday I think , I really just was trying to find out if other people had a recurrence of diverticulitis after surgery.

Well I am really glad you are feeling a bit better. I also had surgery for adhesions, as well as a total bowel blockage, although mine was small intestinal. I remember being really alert for anything unexpected while I was recovering, so maybe over reacted to what is going on with you. You must have gone through a very tough time with the surgeries, but glad they worked out so well and are in the past now.

thank you So much for your reply. Yes I am always on high alert even after this time because I’ve had so many surgeries and it was so complex. I’ve still got cramps today. I suspect my painkillers are probably adding to that, but hard to know. I used to have cramps before my surgery from the diverticulitis.I’ll be glad to see my surgeon in may And investigate further. My GP said himself he doesn’t know enough about this condition.I’m also really confused about what to eat because I’m a vegetarian always have been I’ve always had a very good diet and my surgeon said he’s never operated on anyone that was a vegetarian before. He said diverticulitis is a very unknown disease. There are things I know I definitely can’t eat and things I’m fine with But I feel my bowel is not coping With Fibre very well at the moment. It’s just really good to talk to someone that has been through the same thing and knows what it’s like. So thank so much again.
