it snows every day
As the snow lands all around me, And my fears begin to rise, Cant help but worry about thee, My anxiety I just cant hide, Like my OC the snow has arrived, Its lying all around, Where has this strength come from that I have recently just found, Like the thaw that comes my sun is hope, Surgery

Since starting dialysis I've had a tiny appetite?
Originally I was sick a lot and not eating because nobody had noticed my kidneys had failed. However, it carried on even once my bloods came back fine to the stage I was on almost every anti sickness medication and had to have a feeding tube for 6 weeks because I had lost so much weight. That settled

Snow, marmalade and spelt bread
It's snowing again here in Birmingham. It's been snowing on and off since Thursday, and even if it meant that the car journey back from chemo on Friday took 3 hours (normally 20 mins), I can't be grumpy about it. Normal life gets more complicated, the pavements are icy, getting the car our of the driveway

Is it possible that RLS could be exacerbated or triggered by some form of physical trauma to the body.
I wondered about this because I've read the odd post where some members have commented that their symptoms began after a car accident or the like. I had to have major surgery, followed by four more operations, for Peritonitis. It was after this that my mild RLS became unbearable and I developed SEVERE

Setting up a support group: Part One - Why?
For those of us who’ve been through a period of critical illness and are fortunate enough to come out the other side, we leave hospital in a weakened state and emerge back into a world that looks very different to how it did before. It may not be true for everyone, but for most of us intensive

My Husband....my stranger....
I know we are all individuals....and brain injuries are different (not least in the way that they affect and impact us all differently). However, I wanted to share a little part of my story. I am 43, my husband of 15 years is 53. We were both business leaders in different sectors, he was exceptional

Depression wanes when you paint!
I've been feeling turbulent this week. But in my favourite medium I produced something pretty cool. Dab hand at this art stuff. (Self-referential, egocentric, true). Although the proportions are slightly off. My mum is better than me. Oil, acrylic... whatever, she can do it. That doesn't even

Wrist and clumsiness
I have pscaratic arthritis in both wrist and this year they have got really stiff and sore and are fusing by themselves, I have found when I am able to use my hands that I have become clumsy with them, it almost feels like they are numb and can not control them as I use to. Does anyone else get this

My sons brain injury is destroying us
My son had a severe traumatic abi in 2005 when he was 25. Since then he has undergone inpatient rehab and now has 3 support workers and has just moved into a new property of his own. Great! you may say, isnt he doing well. Wrong, he is totally dependant on us and we still support him 24/7 . The problem

Snow, Sheep and School
Woke up this morning to a smattering of snow. Thought you would like to know that the horse costume arrived (hallelujah for the internet; was never any good at sewing), but the sheep outfit not come yet, which is causing slight stress to the child concerned.... Talking of stress, a lot of our kids

Still stuck with the Old Bag
On Friday, I celebrate 6 weeks since I had my fistula repair. At which point, the plan was for me to have a cystogram, and provided it showed everything had healed, to have a trial without catheter. Disappointingly, its now looking as if I'm stuck with it till the new year :( As we hadn't
