Side effects of drugs
Has anyone experienced the compulsive behaviour side effects of taking Mirapexin? My husband has been taking it together with co-beneldopa for over a year but has recently started to exhibit unusual sexual behaviour which he says he cannot help. This is causing problems with him removing his incontinence

My mum suffered a brain injury about 12 weeks ago. She was discharged from hospital by the physio with out consent from a doctor. The hospital have really messed up and she still hasn't been seen by a doctor. She is suffering with memory loss. Constant ringing in her ears with loss of hearing, concentration

The Mountain.
Hi All. There once was a man in a terrible state of anxiety and fear. They said to him "You have to climb that mountain because, at the top, there is a hut with a wonderful book in it that tells you how to solve your problems". The man got everything together for his trip up the mountain. He spent

Understanding.
Hi All. Dr. Weekes regarded UNDERSTANDING as one of the most important parts of her teaching. What does it mean "to understand?" One of the dictionary definitions is "To know and appreciate what is happening or why it is happening". I have always found that an explanation of something, which may appear

Missing my Daughter
Hi everyone, I am a Mother with a Daughter who suffered a hypoxic brain injury through being hypo (she is diabetic) and having a lot of drink and drugs in her system. She was at a friends house and they all thought she was asleep, and she was left a long time. Three months on and she is in a brain rehab

Anticipation.
Hi All. This can be a nightmare as ellabella's recent blog will tell you. It can be one of the worse symptoms of nervous illness. There is an interesting little story that may help. There was an Alpine village over which hung an enormous amount of snow that had collected over the years. For ages the

Do you, or someone you know, experience problems with chewing or swallowing (dysphagia)? If so, can you help us with our new factsheet?
We are developing a new factsheet to help people deal with dysphagia - a common condition after brain injury. It explains what dysphagia is, how normal swallowing works, the signs and symptoms of dysphagia, diagnostic techniques, treatment options and some strategies to overcome the difficulties.

Wrap up warm and take care.
For many years I have studied meteorology so it is with great interest I have been watching a combination of circumstances that could mean the coldest snowiest winter for many years for us here in the UK. I have been saying in my weather circle that I expect winter to arrive much earlier than usual.

Musings of a survivor
Well, I just signed up tonight and I already have a lot to think about from reading blog posts so far. I first heard about Headway about nine years ago, and that was 11 or 12 years after I sustained my TBI in a road accident. Up until then I hadn't really understood the implications of having a head
