Should I have a hysterectomy?
The short version is that I have adenomyosis, but it is well enough managed on zoladex/Tibolone that I'm not having any significant pain and not bleeding enough that it is a problem, but I do have lots of more minor issues and my consultant thinks a hysterectomy would be better. I've got the op booked

Help needed -- direction of travel
I am an active 79 year old located down in the pointy end of Cornwall, UK. I have led a healthy life except for the onset of Atrial Fibrillation at 65 (2010) and at 71 (2015), the onset of osteoarthritis in right knee. This is now just beginning to affect left knee but is all manageable at this stage

Swollen cord-stump after castration?
I got castrated three years ago, because the boys were inflammated, hard and numb. The right one cut out inguinal, got examinamed in pathology with result: no cancer. Thereby the left one got cut out from his sac-shelf directly, so i have the cord stump still in my inguinal left. It was often swollen

Min invasive Aortic valve replacement:- happy or disappointed?
Iām 67 yo, male, slightly overweight but otherwise good health but I have a severe Aortic Stenosis, thatās running at about 25% of full capacity. My only symptoms are slight breathlessness when climbing stairs. Saw a surgeon yesterday who wants to replace the valve with an animal valve, but he does not

ā¹Overwhelmed... loss of mobility and medical negligence
This isn't a story I like to talk about or even think about but its the reality I've been forced to live. As with far too many people who have suffered with endo, I've been ignored, dismissed, minimilised and even told it was all in my head when it very obviously wasn't. Imagination doesn't create visible

Any advice? do I take prednisone after surgery since I will be fasting overnight? How long do I have to wait until I can bend over? Does it take longer to heal with prednisone? I'm on 3 mg.

Macular Hole
Hi, long term PMR/GCA sufferer been on 4mg for long enough and staying there! However I developed a macular hole which needed surgery. Has anyone else had this problem, is there likely any association of cause with GCA /PMR or Pred? Surgery done now and I have to wait and see how successful it is.

Speechless by my GPās response
I messaged my GP surgery and requested a full thyroid blood test (not just TSH which is all Iāve been able to get since COVID) as well as iron, vits B and D tests. Iāve been feeling really rotten, and want to look at every potential reason. Now, bear in mind I have been on HRT (prescribed by them) for

Doctor refusing to increase levo, says I should not have been put on it in the first place (it was "against his better judgement")
Argh, I've just had an incredibly frustrating and upsetting phone consultation after 8 weeks on 50mcg of levothyroxine. I was on a starter dose of 25mcg for the 8 weeks before that. Current/past levels TSH level (range 0.570-3.6) 3.169 mU/L 13 Nov 2023 1.841 mU/L 21 Sep 2023 3.730 mU/L

Hello My husband suffered a severe head injury on Friday, has had surgery and is now in critical care. My children and I are distraught. They took him off sedation yesterday but have just called and they have now but him back on. Does anyone have an experience of this? Feels like a step forward then
