Hello everyone,

I hope you're all well as can be. I've just been to see my specialist endo consultant 12 weeks after my laparoscopy in January (he also did one in 2021). I won't go into detail be the consultant lasted all but 2-3 minutes and my pain experience was passed off as being bowel and/or bladder related which wasn't his area and no advise on who or where to go to next.

I'm wanting to get a second opinion from an endometriosis specialist. And I just wondered, if acceptable, if anyone had some good experiences in Yorkshire with a specialist consultant?

I left the hospital in tears feeling extremely let down and lost on where to go next. I have no idea what even happened in my surgery as I felt he just wanted me out (I will be emailing his secretary to get a in depth letter of what happened in my surgery).

I hope this is allowed and and thank you in advance x

Hi, I’m so sorry you had such an awful experience. But yes absolutely get a second opinion. Long story short but I have a huge fear of using public rest rooms my entire life and have always had pain going to the bathroom and my period pain and migraines and random stabbing pains throughout the month , I just thought this was normal. Want until I changed jobs and my new boss told me she thought I had endometriosis I went to a private gynocologist who listened to my history and was like yes definitely endometriosis let’s do a laparoscopy, he found it was all over my bladder and bowls. Which explained my fear and pain of using the bathrooms . Since the treatment and diagnosis I’m so much more comfortable and better at going anywhere . The pain is not normal and your dr should know that endometriosis cells has been found everywhere in the body. So if you have endometriosis cells in these areas it would explain why your in pain.

But because this is where my endometriosis was it took a long time for the pain to settle down and going to the bathroom to become normal again due to the swelling and treatment .

Hey there!

Endo has stuck my womb and bladder together in my surgery in 2021 but when I questioned if anything would answer the pain I'm getting (before and after surgery) he politely basically said it's a bowel problem and mentioned nothing about surgery result. Presuming nothing was near my bladder and/or bladder.

I'm just mind boggled he didn't offer to refer to colorectal baring in mind he works with them for endo! He just completely disregarded me.

I'm definitely going to seek another specialist outside my local trust and try get a colorectal referral, again to another trust, in the meantime.

I understand it may not be endo related if nothing was found there but there's obviously something not right/going on!

Thank you for your reply, it's nice to know there's other out there who are so supportive in your treatment and care x

Hiya,

No you’re not alone at all, I’ve only just been diagnosed with Ednometriosis. At first I was relived as it explained my entire adult life but not I’m seeing the treatment methods are worse than the Endo itself. But my Endo was luckily only on part the left side of my womb and my bladder my lower bowl but the Douglas pouch was full of it. And that was the cause of all my bowl and pain issues . I’m truly shocked you dr hasn’t looked into this further if your not happy definitely seek another opinion. I’m not sure where your at but I’m based in Peterborough and was lucky enough to pay to go see a private dr for an alternative problem but related to sexual health and knew straight away what my problem was and within a month I had the diagnosis and treatment required. Not to say that the treatment method of the coil is working I actually feel it’s doing more harm than good atm . But that’s why I decided to join this site as I need help and advice from people who are going though the same things as no one else I know understands it
