Two weeks post surgery now

Big sigh. Two weeks post surgery now and I still can’t help feeling how different this is from my previous two.

I’ve called the hospital twice regarding ‘complications’ (or so I think but they don’t).

The pain has subsided but it’s still there and I’m so tender with a big lump near the lower-most incision. I cannot lift anything heavier than a kettle and certainly wouldn’t feel safe to drive.

My prior surgeries I had minimal bruising. Perhaps I was lucky. This time it was purple and black and stretched all around my abdomen and into my sides.

Most of all I do feel down that I have become aware this likely will just be an issue for ever more. I don’t know why it’s only just dawned on me. I was 23 when I first experienced issues and almost 47 now. It does get you down.

I went back to work too quick this time too but I do have 3 days leave after today and can’t wait to properly relax.

So not really moaning as such. Just speaking out loud and sending bestest wishes to anyone else out there feeling a little ‘meh’.

x

2 weeks is very early days to be going back to work. What surgery did you have? Surely the GP should check out the lump to put your mind at ease. I'm 6 weeks post first lap and still get tired if I do too much. Hope you feel better with some rest 💜

I had hysteroscopy, endometrial biopsy, Novasure endometrial ablation and laparoscopic Helica removal and Helica ablation of endometriosis. I guess I just need to be patient. I’ve contacted my surgeon’s PA today to query my ongoing issues. Fingers crossed.

Hope you continue to recover!

It is still early to feel improvements. The body is still inflamed. You could see improvements after about 3 months and as time goes by you will be able to see more and more progress (if the hyperactivity is ok). Initially, the body has more inflammation than before the operation because of the cuts and that's why you don't see improvements yet.
