I'll be having open heart surgery in just under 3 weeks and I'm looking for any tips and tricks for afterwards.

hello, I had open heart surgery two years ago and have recently been getting dull pain in my chest and strong palpitations, along with very strong pulsations and twitches in my blood vessels. This is particularly noticeable in my wrist, neck and legs. Has anyone ever experienced this?

only after mentioning this on Facebook page " heart valve surgery support group " the comments are no one can believe i have only been checked just once and they all have an annual ECG check ...however none of them reside in the UK ....Germany ..USA .. Canada ..

5 weeks in following open heart surgery and a subsequent pacemaker fitting the 3 puncture wounds in my stomach are still causing me problems. My other wounds seem to be healing nicely but am still having to wear dressings on the 3 puncture wounds. They are still weeping and causing problems.

I can’t bear the thought of open heart surgery and wondered how they decide if you are suitable for TAVI How has anyone’s experience of this procedure been ? Thanks

I am after some advice, or maybe resources that may be available for someone who has been through the trauma of open heart surgery and is suffering with symptoms which appear like PTSD. I look forward to hearing from the community. Anna.

I had open heart surgery 18 months ago for mitral valve replacement. I'm wondering if these short sharp pain in sternum something to be concerned about, or will this heal over time.

I’m 6 months today since my heart bypass and after feeling super positive and happy I was still here ,I now seem to have spiraled into feeling really down and questioning every decision I have made in life. I’m really struggling to cope and it seems that everyone just expects me to still be the person

I am due to have urgent open heart surgery for a dilated aorta. I've been told I can choose where I have this done within the NHS and also choose the surgeon. This is an enquiry to ask if others have had this operation and what their experience has been.

I have seen him thru heart attack, open heart surgery, DVT deep vein thrombosis and now a stroke. I will always be here as his wife, his friend, share a home/room and love with him but I have to learn to live with the new relationship.

I was reminded a few days ago that my best mates girlfriend died in heart surgery as a result of heart valve disease- that was 4-5 years ago I know everyone’s different but I’m so worried. I can’t leave my girlfriend behind yet, we have so many dreams to build.

Just cos I've not gone into cardiac or had open heart surgery does not make it mild!!

My son had open heart surgery and they left a needle inside of his chest.i tried to make a claim because he didnt die after i was told no.I think this is medical negligence it happend 8 years ago now.in my mind tbeyve gor away with it
