Started new thyroid medication Mon 😡

Sorry everyone but this is going to be a rant.... As many members will know I stopped taking my thyroid medication on January 31st because the incompetent endo put me back on teva, which I certainly don't get on with (gastric side effects amongst other side effects)

Through my surgeon in Liverpool for phpt she requested I have a full thyroid panel and thyroid antibodies because of thyroid tissue found on my left side (full thyroidectomy in 2019) 🤷

She also asked me to request all vits and minerals B12 cortisol ect to be do as not taking thyroid medication for this long will probably effect these.

I had bloods taken on Monday this week and immediately started on the vencamil on coming home, I've started on 12.5 splitting the 100mg table, today I recive a message saying an appointment as been booked for me on 1st may for bloods..... ALREADY MY ANXIETY IS KICKING IN😡😡😡... please don't let this be thyroid 🙏... Yes it's to do thyroid as I've already had thyroid bloods done, to early to do them on Monday 😡so they disregard them.

Wait...ive not had bloods done since Dec 2024 and let's just count up the wks... Saw endo Dec 27th no bloods taken by her.. She took me off my T3 and put me on T4 teva🤮 Jan 31st I come off teva as Im having the same side effects so... Feb is nearly 4 wks then March is 4 wks it's now the 10th of April so that's way past 7wks surely that blood test was due??? 😡... Plus the surgeon in Liverpool said "it will be interesting to see at what level your thyroid bloods are without any thyroid medication, so please don't take any thyroid medication until your thyroid bloods have been taken.

She wants to see if this bit of thyroid is producing any thyroid hormone, I honestly dispar with this surgery 😡 I've just been told to ring up between 8am and 9am to either get an appointment, or a phone call from gp... I was doing that to try to make an appointment for these very blood I had done on Monday, it took my surgeon in Liverpool to do a blue blood form for me to hand it to reception before any blood test would be done😡.

And AGAIN it's not been done, and now I'll have to stop the thyroid medication until may 1st as it will scue the test🤦🤦🤦🤦 how bloody usless is my surgery, does anyone think I should write to the practice manager with this??

birkie, that's like someone saying to your surgeon, 'Don't drink any water, it will be interesting to see your dehydration levels...' FFS - have they no shame? Interesting my big fat white @rse.

I'm so sorry that you're going through this. Have a hug and deep breaths. 🤗

I can understand where she's coming from tho and I came off the T4 teva because it just comes right threw me💩 no absorbtion, my TSH in Dec was 11.58 T3 4.7 before I stopped the teva t4.

She thinks the thyroid nodule may be producing thyroid hormone like it did in graves because I had a T3 level of 11.4 and TSH of 0.25 with her blood draw in Liverpool (I'd taken my 10mg T3 at 4.45am and she took bloods at 10.45) she noted my T3 should not have been that high after around 5 hours, as it's fast acting and depleats fast in the body.

Then I have another round of bloods with gp which showed TSH 11.58 T3 4.7 no change in dose ect.

The sent to endo who didn't do anything but put me back on T4 teva, we do need to see if this nodule is producing any thyroid hormone, but as I said like in graves I attacked my thyroid making it go overactive, then the attacks stopped then started again until I eventually got the bloods at my surgery that showed overactive, then the antibodies diagnosed graves along with the uptake scan, this nodule as uptaken to🤷.

She gave me a blue blood form as I said, she told me I could go to my gp or hospital with it, I'm now thinking of just going to the hospital to have them done🤔 I'd probably need a few days without the T4 to leave my system so as not to get a false test😢

If they took bloods on Monday they could/should be still holding the vial and able to run further testing…..so get on to GP/Practice manager and INSIST politely that thyroid levels are tested

Why on earth do they say testing was “too early “?!?!?

Change surgery.

Maybe, just maybe, someone in the surgery came across "action this patient for blood work" and has booked you in without checking you have had the blood test.... You know they dont read the notes...

Guess why I think this? Yup, I was called for tests twice in one month.

Thought that's what they had done... Double booked me🙄 but no... This gp sat with me and I told her why the surgeon in Liverpool wanted the thyroid bloods and thyroid antibodies done before I take the new thyroid medication 🤷... Also why the hell does the gp think the surgeon wants thyroid antibodies done🤷 you don't get them if you don't have a thyroid which she knows, I explained it all to the gp😡.I think they just don't listen, and they are to keen to tick boxes, not using there actual brains🧠 to try to work things out🤷

I can bet there is a box marked "full thyroid panel including antibodies" and they ticked that. They are becoming robots to the computers, not doctors to the patients!

The surgeon actually wants thyroid antibodies done, with the full thyroid panel, because of the thyroid nodule that as grown back it's vascular (showed up on my 4DCT scan recently) so because I've been off thyroid medication since January 31st she feels it's a good lipmus test to see if it's producing any thyroid hormones. However if I just jump in to taking the thyroid medication as gp suggested, before the blood thyroid /antibodies test, it will be a false positive. 🤦

This is what I conveyed to the gp... She saw the blue blood form from the surgeon which says

CLINICAL INFORMATION :

off all thyroid medication

As a thyroid functioning nodule?

BLOODS... T3, T4, TSH,TPOAB... TRAB

containers 3

1 SERUM GEL 5MI GOLD

How could she then go on to destroy the samples 🤷 she agreed to these tests🤦

Well she had her chance and blew it, I'm going to the hospital to have them taken.
