Spouse/partner of heart bypass advice
Hi My husband (53) is having his triple heart bypass on Friday. Obviously we are anxious, but does anyone have any advice from a spouse/partner perspective for the first few days after the op - what to expect etc?

Painful sciatica
Hi. I have spondylosthesis (bulging disc), L5 area and, having seen a surgeon at the Whittington Hospital, am now on a waiting list for facet joint injections. Anyway I want to do some of my own
health
monitoring like
heart
beats or oxygen levels like a watch or armband with a recording app to my phone but I don't know what to look for, what's the best, or if they are really any use. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Update following long-awaited GP appointment for results of Thyroid blood test
and that I was in danger of becoming Hyperthyroid which would put my
heart
and general
health
at risk. I tried reasoning that I didn't want to upset the balance as, apart from feeling tired at times, I feel relatively well at present and need to be able to function in order to go to work.

Need suggestions please
I am very lucky, in that I have a very understanding partner, but she has in the past 12 months had her own serious
health
issues (Breast Cancer and a
heart
condition called AF). What would be a decent scooter for just getting out and about?

Prazosin side effect
In my own case it can lower diastolic to below 60, which tends to be bad for
heart
health
in particular if systolic is above 120 i.e. a pulse pressure (difference between systolic and diastolic) of more than 60.

Abalation Fears
He advised that I am in good
health
and from my echocardiogram my
heart
seems fine. I am aiming to get back to some level of normality and trying to be positive about the abalation. My wife has seen me go down hill with the AF episodes.

Candersartan Breathing Problems
Strangely enough when I was first diagnosed i used my private
health
insurance to get a
heart
checkup where they discovered an enlarged left heart valve. The consultant wanted me to take a beta blocker as well as Candersartan.

NOT SURE
I have had a lot of
health
issues over the last 4 years with my
heart
. During a PET scan of the heart the tests showed a "hot spot" on my ovary. The SUV is 3.9, the mass is on a 3.5cm ovarian cyst and is 1.5 cm soft tissue. I also had a CT back in 2020 that revealed a complex cyst on this ovary.

how do you cope with waiting for heart surgery?
I was told I would need a new aortic valve nearly nine months ago. I know it will happen eventually but I’m getting fed up of feeling fairly lousy (I’m in heart failure) and the waiting. How do you keep yourself from getting too miserable? I feel as though my life is on hold as is my family’s.
