Heart surgery
I go into hospital tomorrow for open heart surgery to replace my aortic valve. I was in hospital just before Easter to have a TAVI . My surgeon decided I was a candidate for OpH surgery. Bit daunting but looking forward to having a better quality of life!

Third open heart surgery
Hi there, my partner has been diagnosed with severe aortic stenosis and will need a valve replacement soon. He has congenital heart disease and this will be his third open heart surgery. Has anyone here undergone multiple surgeries? How was it? There isn't much information online and I'm keen to know

Heart surgery and Hashimotos
Has anyone had heart surgery and then gone on to be diagnosed with Hashimotos/ under active thyroid. I’m just looking to connect with anyone in a similar situation.

AF, ablation and odd heart rhythms
I had an ablation for AF in Dec. Since the procedure I have only experienced one short 3 min run of AF, but my heart has been very unsettled over the last five months. Recently, I've been suffering bouts of tachycardia (140 BPM for a minute or two is about as bad as it gets) at night, which are manageable

To do it or not to do it? Ablation and other things.
We often get asked "should I have an ablation?" and from time to time my answer has been "When the pupil is ready the teacher will come" meaning that when the AF is bad enugh you won't need to ask. This happened to me way back along when I declined the first offer of ablation but within six months was

Right Sided Pacemaker
I had a pacemaker inserted last year for sick sinus syndrome. Unfortunately it got infected and had to be removed. I found the whole thing very traumatic. Unfortunately had a four hour episode of low heart rate the other evening so might have to reconsider having another fitted which of course would

Stopping Smoking
I am so proud of getting to a year+ since stopping smoking. Yes it took a heart attack and a triple heart bypass to give me the 'motivation'. I cannot believe I have no cravings whatsoever, ending a whole day fast and not being bothered about not having a cigarette, simply astonishing to my old self

Heart Surgery in India?
Hi I am new here so not sure if this appropriate for this forum. Three years ago I was diagnosed with two leaky heart valves. Due to Covid, three appointments with a cardiologist were cancelled. I didn't have any symptoms at the time. After a visit to A&E ,because of extreme breathlessness, I was referred

*Sensitive* He’s finally here - but now we have to have him over to the surgeons 💔 UPDATED
UPDATE 3.6.22: I just wanted to say a massive thank you so much for all of the kind messages and words of support 🙏. Our beautiful boy survived 5.5 hours of open heart surgery on Wed. We we were told by the surgeons that “it went smoothly”, which was a huge relief. However, it is still very early days

Heart Failure
I contracted Covid in March and at which time I was also diagnosed with AF. I have had several Doctors and Hospital appointments and each time my Medications have been increased changed and most recently one tablet removed. I find it slightly unsettling each time a medical professional refers to it

Now I feel completely helpless when it comes to restoring
health
. The doc said that part of my
heart
had died ... yikes! And then I made the mistake of checking out life expectancy info on Google ... scary! Of course all my friends tell me to stay away from Google.

The Wrong Watering Can!
Morning all! Three weeks today since my ablation and all is well in NSR ever since🌝 Need to still remember though that it's early days. We have two greenhouses and raised veg beds . We are also lucky enough to have a spring fed well so we don't use a water hose but cans instead. MrW fills them and I
