HI everyone.

I had 1 stent fitted on 01/09/2022.

I am really struggling, both physically and mentally since the operation.

Doctor prescribed me statins and prasugel.

I am now struggling with extreme fatigue, so I am turning to you for advice.

Before I was diagnosed with 1 blocked artery, I was very fit and healthy, going sailing for 3 to 4 hours a day, but since the operation, I can hardly even walk to the local shop.

Extreme fatigue.

I stopped taking the statins, on the doctors advice, although he prescribed an alternative statin, but I still suffer with extreme fatigue, tiredness, increased anxiety, headache, dizziness, loss of coordination.

Before the operation, I was fine.

The only other medication that the doctor prescribed me is Effient.

Can anyone advise me if my extreme fatigue is associated with effient?

Is there an alternative?

All I know is that my life has completely changed since the operation, and I don't know why.

My long term Thai girlfriend has abandoned me, which only adds to my distress.

On the doctors advice, because my cholesterol is very high, I have cut out eating ANY fried foods, rice, cheese, processed meat, seafood, eggs.

I am pretty desperate.

I don't want to go vegetarian, because I already suffer from pernicious anaemia which would only make my health issues worse.

I am sorry for the long post, but I just want to go back to the happy life I had before the heart operation, but I can't understand why I now feel so sick?

Is it the effient that is making me so fatigue and sick?

I recall all of these feelings after my stent was fitted l, over 6 years ago. Fatigue is normal..rest up, take the medication recommended. 6 weeks of rest. Then start short gentle walks. Build these up over time. I walk over 8km a day now. I also feel very lucky, remember every day is a bonus for us, left untreated we would have died. Keep spirits up buddy, it will get better.

Thank you for your reply and concern.

l am trying to walk 3 km a day, but it hard.

I was very active before my operation , sailing 3 or 4 hours every day.

I am trying to pin down what is causing me extreme fatigue.

But I am gaining weight.

I can hardly walk, never mind my loss of my sailing .

not easy to deal withwith

Hi, and thanks for the moral support.

This was me prior to the stent operation.

I am now a shadow of those former times.

The stress has also caused a break up with my partner.

I am a physical and emotional wreck.

Not easy to deal with.

Even winning local sailing competitions

Hiya. I was in your situation 6 yrs ago, you will probably be able to find my first desperate asks for help on this wonderful site. It’s not easy, you’ve gone through a traumatic experience and so has your heart! Both need time to recover! I know it’s very frustrating at not being able to do what your brain thinks you can, but you will in time. I’m sorry your partner is not around, as this is one thing we all need at this time is support from friends. If you’re offered rehabilitation at the hospital or local gym, go to it and make more friends with people who have just gone through the same as you. I found this a great help, because you tend to think that your the only person this has ever happened to! I do hope you will slowly start feeling better, both physically and mentally, it takes time. Good luck 😉

So sorry to hear that you are struggling, I am sure all the members on the Forum will offer support based on their own experiences. It is not unknown to feel low following any medical procedure, together with a combination of new medications this can often cause some fatigue or nausea, as I am sure you are aware, medications can have some side effects that may have some impact on the body. Effient helps to prevent platelets in your blood from sticking together and forming a blood clot. If you continue to experience such side effects, perhaps discuss your symptoms with your Doctor.
