My transformation from one of the Ugly Sisters to possibly Cinderella
A Long time and no silly blog fuss. Life has been very fast and hectic and some of it has been hilarious, and some not quite so. I have one teen about to sit GCSE's and the other A Levels, both part time at school with myself trying to co-ordinate work and tutors, actually I mainly pay the A*6th formers

Chicken Pox and PMR/GCA
I definitely thought I was too old to have chicken pox. Unfortunately my nephews visited during the infectious period and I was unlucky to get it. I felt as though I had the flue for a few days, and then spots on my thighs, which I thought was caused by a steroid cream I was using for a wound on my

Help am I going mad!
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone out there could possibly help shed some light on my situation. 2 years approx my skin started drying out almost over night and looking old and withdrawn. I started using creams to try and moisturise my hands and body. Then later I came out in a rash on my back scalp

Strange happenings last night!
Hi everyone, so last night was night number 8 of me weaning off dopamine meds.Just a recap , I was doing well on Neupro patch until it started affecting my skin due to an allergy to the adhesive so a couple of months ago I changed to Ropinerole which made me feel ill.I saw the Neurologist and came off

Test results interpretation
Hi again, I've got Graves and am hyper on Carbimazole 30mg and Propanolol at 40mg 3 x day. The beta blockers have caused a very very itchy psoriasis - like rash. GP has just prescribed some steroid cream which should help! My question though, as I'm still very new to this is how to interpret my blood

Effective emollient moisturisers: tips please?
Sjogrens sicca dry overheated skin symptoms are even worse for me this winter than ever. Complicated by my raynauds being simultaneous with erythromelalgia, all are secondary to my infant onset systemic lupus.....along with various other typical secondaries. Am on daily hydroxychloroquine + mycophenolate

Morphea and turmeric
Has anyone any experience of using turmeric? I have scleroderma on my legs and feet, very painful burning etc at night. Saw that turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and started to use it for my wrist, 2 x 400mg a day. I know this worked because I ran out of pills so stopped for 2 weeks, it flared up,

I was being too optimistic !
I got up early this morning after having a very disturbed night yet again. I had to get up at 2am with severe hip/pelvic pain, simply could not lie in bed. Took painkillers and crawled back to bed at 4am. Anyway, had to be up by 8am as a Tesco delivery expected, and also hubby was going over to collect

Itchy bumps
I know this is a subject that has appeared before but it seems to me that no one has ever come up with a specific diagnosis/treatment for the spontaneous bumps that appear and cause so much discomfort. Have been seen by dermatologist who biopsied same - report states insect bites - these are definitely

Lichen planus overlap SLE
Have recently seen my GP & dentist about a particularly nasty infected bit of gum that developed from one of my life long characteristic recurring areas of inflammation & ulceration. I've been with this very good dentist for 4 years since my treatment for systemic lupus & sicca syndrome began. I added

Genital ulcers
Attended my rheumatologist today and am going to come off my methotrexate injections early in the New Year. Am concerned my ulcer frequency will increase and am wondering if anyone can recommend an appropriate steroid cream in case of a 'flare up'?

Itching joints !!
I have been in the throes of flare for the past month or so. At the same time I started to get raised itchy patches in most of the swollen warm joints. This is a picture of my very swollen elbow/upper arm. Been to see GP this morning and straight away he said he thinks it's psoriatic arthritis. The

Pituitary Gland?
I don't understand the Pituitary Gland's part in all of this but my brain is working at half power. I've had no thyroid for many years and have only been given levothyroxin. My latest tests come up ferritin 17uglL, B12 71500uglL and Folate 12.3uglL. I've taken in the point about antibodies still attacking

Downstairs....
Okay do here's a question I hope some can help me with. The ulcers down there seemed to be healing with the new steroid cream. But now as of about an hour ago, that horrible itching is coming back again and it's not even gone... Does this mean they are going to get worse? Or that it's itching from healing
