Sinemet intake blocked by Proteins
I was diagnosed in 1992 and have had DBS surgery. At 73, I am actually quite healthy. My question deals with protein intake due to Sinemet being blocked by animal and even quite a few plant proteins, namely amino acid foods. Are the other Parkinson drugs also sensitive to proteins? Has anyone else

Failing many meds over the years.
I have failed so many meds over the many years I’ve had RA. Very seldom for one to last even a year. So much so that my doctor is going back and we are trying some over again. Well today he said he was gonna put me on Kineret. It’s a once a day shot. He are you ok giving yourself an injection a day

Hallucinations
Can anyone give me advice on hallucinations. My partner just started on 100/25 c/l 3 times a day and has been hallucinating intermittently ever since... moreso at night. They aren’t troubling hallucinations so he’s coping fine but I worry that they’ll become more difficult to distinguish from reality

Sinemet Slow-release Hard Candy
Has anyone tried making a home-made slow-release levodopa lozenge or hard candy that you can suck on and have constant levels of dopamine in your system?

How does PD lead to leg edema?
I posted a few days ago but no answers. Both legs are swollen due to pitting edema. I have slowness/weakness in my left leg. A few days ago I noticed swelling and assumed it was just in my left leg. But this photo shows swelling in both legs. [i] I started Sinemet last year. Since then

Parkinson's tremor both sides now
Hello, I've only ever had left side tremor mostly my hand and lower arm. My tremor is now right side too eminating from my core down both arms into my hands. Most uncomfortable feeling ever. My core shakes. Pandemic lockdown has lessened my movement and eliminated my ability to have physical therapy

Why did adding carbidopa to mucuna make me sick?
I've been using mucuna (Barlowe's Brown 40%) since March 11. It's been working pretty well, but I wanted to see if adding carbidopa would make it more effective. I had some that my neurologist prescribed when I was trying to take Sinemet, so I took half of a tablet (12.5 mg) with my 1/8 teaspoon of mucuna

Is edema a side effect of RYTARY?
[i]I noticed some edema in my foot and ankles when first trying medications for PD. I tried Sinemet but also tried amantadine and ropinerole. I never knew which medication caused the edema. Now I'm on Rytary alone and edema is back. I wore shorts today and both the neuro and my wife noticed

Does anyone have experience taking a "drug holiday" from sinemet or any other levodopa drug? For how long? Was it successful? Did it reset?

Neupro - 1st day on...working I think...
So this is interesting. I didn’t take my Sinemet this morning and thank God I didn’t because the constipation I’ve had from it has been so awful and actually gave me an impacted bowel so I did the next best thing and took a lovely suppository and that worked incredible magic needless to say. Sorry for

THC/Marijuana: Why/how does it work for PD?
I live in the US in a no-marijuana state but only 5 minutes from a recreational-legal state. I usually go to my sister's house (in the legal state) at bedtime, grab an edible, then head home to sleep (it takes about an hour to kick in). Without THC, I barely sleep at all. It takes 4-5 hours to fall

Started Sinemet and my hair is falling out, switching to mucuna
Editing to add that I've also had dry and uncomfortable eyes and unusually blurry vision since starting Sinemet. Yuck! I have been diagnosed with EBMD, but that doesn't show up overnight, and the eye issues started within hours of the first Sinemet pill I took. ***************************************

WELL.....Crap!
I hoped Manganese poisoning might explain the tremor. But the blood test says manganese levels are normal. Then I had the DAT scan. Findings: Reduced uptake of the tracer throughout the striata, consistent with loss of dopaminergic terminals and confirming idiopathic Parkinson's Disease.
