I've been using mucuna (Barlowe's Brown 40%) since March 11. It's been working pretty well, but I wanted to see if adding carbidopa would make it more effective. I had some that my neurologist prescribed when I was trying to take Sinemet, so I took half of a tablet (12.5 mg) with my 1/8 teaspoon of mucuna this morning. Within 20 minutes I was throwing up, but since then I've felt pretty good. The Barlowe's brown mucuna has never made me nauseous before, so I'm confused as to why adding carbidopa would affect me that way. I thought it was supposed to have the opposite effect. Is it possible that I need to decrease the amount of mucuna if I take carbidopa with it? Thoughts?

Why did adding carbidopa to mucuna make me sick?
Me too! I projectile vomited!
That happened to me as well when I started to add a half a tablet of cinnamon to my Mucuna .. I had to take them about a half an hour or so apart and that is working for me and I have been taking just the mucuna for a long time with very little problems with any nausea
I also believe I read something that said to take the Carbidopa First and then the Mucuna first As then it’s in your system when you take your Mucuna
Remember that half a Sinimet tablet also contains 50mg of levodopa which adds to the levodopa in the mucuna. Given that the unabsorbed levodopa is what contributes to the nausea, perhaps you should cut back a bit on the mucuna per dose.
Just something to try.
Regards and good luck.
I wasn't taking half of a Sinemet, I was taking half of a carbidopa (12.5 mg.). I have prescriptions for Sinemet as well as plain carbidopa.
I take 125/100 sinemet x4 a day along with 1 tsp mucuna pruriens powder - with no problems - I was nauseated when I took 11/2 sinemet 25/100X4 with out mucuna
