Does anyone have experience taking a "drug holiday" from sinemet or any other levodopa drug? For how long? Was it successful? Did it reset?

Stopping Sinemet cold turkey for a drug holiday may produce serious withdrawal symptoms if you have been on it for a good while. Your neurologist can fill you in on potential rapid withdrawal symptoms.

Since last March, after I lost my job, no reason to present myself as shake less. So I cut down by 2/3rds my Rytary meds. To expensive anyway.

As would be expected, more shakey and left leg needed to be told to step higher.

So I upped another third.

Better control on days that I workout vigorously. Usually 5 of 7. Joe

YES, macandcheese YES. Been there, tried that, and have had the most excruciatingly painful experience of my life. chartist is correct. "Don't try it at home." You will live to regret it, that is if you happen to be lucky enough to be.

Need I say more? Makes sense?

I asked my neurologist about this. I wanted to see how "bad" i was after 5 years.

He STRONGLY recommended i do not stop my meds.

FYI, if you are being evaluated for DBS, you will typically take a OFF/ON test, where you don't take your meds for 12 hours (ie, a mini holiday), you then go into the doctors office to gauge you "off" state, and then you take your meds to gauge your "on" state. I have never done this kind of test, but I guess it is not too pleasant...
