Questions & Advice for a newbie please!
Hi all, I've been investigating possible causes of long-term fatigue. My symptoms & PA risk factors are listed below. I'm currently waiting on results for the Intrinsic factor antibodies test (bloods taken over 2 weeks ago through GP). On advice of a nutritionist I've been taking an oral B complex,

Folate deficiency
Please can you give me some advice as to what supplement should be take for a folate deficiency. Is it folic acid tablets or folate tablets? I am somewhat confused. Also what is the optimal folate level for a person with Hashimotos? Thanks in advance

IFAB testing guidelines per Mayo clinic laboratory website
I found this IFAB test guideline. I found a few things pretty interesting. This particular lab which is the lab that did my IFAB test says that you should be fasting for 8 hours before you take this test and you should not have had any B12 injections within 2 weeks prior to the test. Another interesting

What happens next?
I have recently been told by my GP on a telephone consultation that I have ET. No explanation of what it is other then ‘It’s a platelet thing and just making you aware as it might raise its head in the future when you have routine blood tests done. ‘ the GP spoke to Haematology who said they are not

4th time lucky: an interesting appointment
This might not make a lot of sense to anyone who didn't see my last post about angular cheilitis, but if you are interested, have a look (photo attached). After three cancellations, I finally got to see my Oral medicine consultant. At first, I saw a junior that I'd never met before - and felt that

PCV 20 Guidelines ? Get 20 if you already had 13 and 23 - or not ?
One pharmacist in Florida refused to give PCV 20 "because guidelines say that if you had other previous pneumo vaccinations you do not need PCV 20 !" I got PCV 13 in 2015 and PCV 23 in 2005. My understanding of the literature is that PCV20 is now "updated" and everybody should get it who may get it

Iron Levels with CLL
Ive been having issues with low iron and as a result I'm on/off iron supplements. I also started taking acalabrutinib in May. I see a local doctor who didn't seem too concerned and I also see a doc in Cincinnati that says low iron is not normal with CLL/acalabrutinib, so he wants me to have an upper

Low Ferritin and iron supplements & Iron Panel interpretation
Further to my post of 24.10.22 Endo increased my Levo to 75 mcg daily and advised TSH to aim for 0.5-2.5, when I mentioned low ferritin she looked at the blood test and said everything is within range? Said my symptoms of brain fog, swimmy head, heaviness and tinitis are unlikely related to thyroid

Positive GP experience!
I had my first meeting with my GP following private consultation and initiation of B12 SI treatment 8 weeks ago. He accepted what was said in the letter the private consultant wrote, and agreed to follow up ferritin and folate blood tests. I advised I would have a follow up consult and I would forward

Can you ‘feel’ your spleen?
I’ve been feeling pressure, not particularly pain, under my ribs on the left for a while. I’ve mentioned this to haematology but no reaction from them. I can feel it most when I’m sat or laid down. Is this relatively normal? I had an iron infusion last as very anaemic, which hasn’t made any difference

between a rock and a hard place.
I’m supposed to get my platelets down, according to my MPN specialist, below 400 before my hip surgery on 12/21. So had to take hydrea daily instead of 4x a week. Got first bloods today after upping dose. Platelets at 531 from 572 two weeks ago but MCV and MCH at top of range. 100 and 33. They’ve taken

parietal cell antibody lab results
I’m having trouble interpreting my lab results. My Parietal Cell Antibody IgG value is 33.2 units and it said the standard range is 0.0-24.9 units. So it’s above the standard range but not by much. Apparently above 25 units is positive so that means I’m positive? I just want to confirm.

B12 next steps - advice please
Hi - I have also posted this in the Pernicious Anaemia section but I know there is also some good knowledge within this group too. I have autoimmune hypothyroidism. Following a disappointing Endo appointment I wrote a detailed email to request an appointment with the Consultant as I felt I hadn’t had

Advice on iron test results please
Having had a history of low ferritin and been prescribed iron tablets, I thought I’d do a test to see if I actually needed them. Surprisingly, my ferritin level has improved but is still not optimal to support my thyroid. Should I take the iron supplements?

Liver pain, elevated liver enzymes and ultrasound
Hello everyone. My boyfriend has been complaining of pain under his lower right rib. Pain was not severe just on and off. He got his blood test done and results showed elevated liver enzymes. He was booked for an ultrasound. We are waiting for the results but really scared. He is 39 and healthy overall

bloods walloped by severe gastrointestinal infection, anyone?
Hi lovelies, I was hospitalised for severe infection last week, which with antibiotics is now better. But my white blood cell count has plummeted to the point hospital has put me under lockdown, and went even lower after 3 filgrastim injections although haematology say sometimes their effect is delayed
