where to get b12 injections to self administer?
hello, I am an American living in the UK. I was previously being treated in the USA for my pernicious anemia with once monthly, self injections. In the UK I have been met with absolute apathy and disregard for my condition. I am genuinely just tired of fighting for my care, and don’t have the strength

folic acid
Is there a good resource showing the need for good folate levels alongside B12 injections? I’m on 4-weekly B12 injections but my latest serum folate blood test is at the very low end of the range, but technically in range according to the NHS so ‘no action required’. It’s gone down while I’ve been

Help! Have I messed up
I have just had a telephone consultation with a GP hoping for help with the symptoms I have been experiencing. I tried to point him in the direction of the relevant guidelines for treating B12 deficiency, he said that he was familiar with the NICE CKS as he deals with B12 all the time and I m not anaemic

B12 Injections and Folic Acid question
Hi! I am starting my course of B12 injections on Monday and my GP also gave me a prescription for folic acid tablets too but said not to start them until my injections. I just wondered, did anyone else take folic acid with their injections and when did you start? On day one of the injections? My prescription

Help sought with iron panel, please
I took an Advanced Thyroid panel with Medichecks on 9th February, and my ferritin came back much lower than optimal, to the point where their GP commented that it could be increased: Ferritin 51.4 (30-264) 9.15% through range I followed the advice I've seen posted here over the years and took a

Besremi
Is Besremi used for ET or just PV? I was thought to have PV due to being Jak2+ & having elevated hemoglobin/hematocrit levels. When I had a bone marrow biopsy it was pretty much normal so I was then said to be MPN-U. I am presently on HU 500mg every other day. My hematocrit & hemoglobin are now

PNH - blood test
I just received this PNH test result and was wondering if anyone knows what it was testing for. I don't see my doctor until next week and I am curious. Thanks, Jack INTERPRETATION Flow Cytometry analysis did not detect RBC and WBC with PNH-associated phenotype. RBC, Granulocytes and Monocytes show

High thyroid TPO antibodies, 14 year old.
Hi all, my daughter has high thyroid antibodies and they are getting higher . Pretty sure they are at 117 currently. All other testing is ok. She is on iron supplements for previously low iron and heavy periods. Should I be concerned, what should I do. The doctor doesn’t seem to worried. Thanks

Timings of NDT and iron supplements
Hi all, I'm struggling to maintain ferritin levels whilst also trying to adhere to the timings of iron supplements around my NDT and other vitamins. My ferritin is rarely higher than 20s (in the last ten years the highest it has been was 52 just once). I've been on NDT for a year and am gradually

Bit old fashioned...
I discovered that a castor oil pack really helps with knee pain. It's horrible sticky oil, but it works topically (for me at least). I have bad memories of this stuff from my childhood. Any hint of sickness and out came the bottle. I would not recommend injesting it! 🤮 it's better than the deep heat

B12 over 4000 with injections, any need to worry?
Hello lovely people, I've been SI 1500ug twice weekly since mid December as a bit of an experiment to see if it would help my symptoms, many which are neuro. Not officially diagnosed as B12 deficient as my blood tests before were all fine but I was heavily supplementing so not really possible to say

High Folate with PA terrible GP
Hello everyone, Im afraid this might be a little long, but i hope someone can help me. It has been a long and upsetting morning. It started with a 630am ER visit for excruciating groin/hip pain for past 6 days and very hard to walk. Anyway, I'm confused. Some of my tests came back surprising. I

Hi! I am now going to be starting Vitamin B12 injections in a couple of weeks, one every other day for 2 weeks then one every three months. If taking B12 supps skew's PA Intrinsic Factor test, does it do the same for Gastric Parietal Cell AB too?
Hi Everyone, Im a bit out of my depth here and wondered if you could help please. Ive taken B Complex for nearly 25 years, I do wonder whether serum levels have always been scuppered, as I read again that to do a credible PA , MMA test I needed to be off B12 for minimum 4- 6 moths , possibly longer

B vits pyridoxal-5-phosphate (vitamin B6)
What B vitamins do people take and what brands have pyridoxal-5-phosphate (vitamin B6) in? What else do people take other than potassium rich diet and B vitamins and what form do you take folic acid in? I've heard it should be folate as folic acid isn't very good? Thanks

Recently diagnosed, WBC numbers stable but RBC/HGB trending down
Hi Everyone, I was diagnosed this October. My current WBC is around 15,000. I am Del 13q and mutated, so good markers. My 3 month blood draw actually showed a slight decrease in WBC, however for the third draw in a row my RBC and HGB have gone down. HGB is low end of normal and RBC is slightly

GP call
Well quite a good discussion with my GP just now! Reiterated my symptoms of B12 deficiency, Folate deficiency, Hypothyroidism, vegetarian and having a gastric band 12 years ago a lightbulb came on! Oh so yes probably good idea for B12 injections! She said she will write to gastroenterologists (I thought

Folate test prep
I’ve been asked to retest my folate as this was rejected from my latest batch of blood tests, earlier this month. I’ve not had just folate tested before (only as part of a wider set of tests) please can you advise on any prep I need to do for just folate? Assuming I should stop Thorne Basic B

Iron plus zinc better for iron deficiency anemia
reading about zinc I came across the following article. I mean it focuses on chronic kidney desease but I found this gem of info stating that zinc combined with iron is better than iron alone. Now I'm not iron deficient. But I thought this might be interesting for those who are. Beware too much zinc
