Bit old fashioned...

I discovered that a castor oil pack really helps with knee pain. It's horrible sticky oil, but it works topically (for me at least). I have bad memories of this stuff from my childhood. Any hint of sickness and out came the bottle. I would not recommend injesting it! 🤮 it's better than the deep heat or other rubs. I'm not suggesting it will work for any one else, I was just somewhat amused that the dreaded castor oil works for knee pain.

I have a bad knee at the minute, what do I do with the castor oil. I no longer have a bath in the house so can't just fill a tub and jump (climb stiffly and slowly) in. Are we just rubbing it on the skin??I'm assuming you're talking chemist castor oil not mechanic Castrol gtx or similar??

Yes it's organic castor oil in a glass bottle. I use Fushi. All you do is saturate a cloth with it, spread it on your knee and cover with plastic wrap. Stick a hot pad on for good measure. This stuff is messy, so watch your clothes. Works fir me, but like most things doesn't work for everyone. Do a skin test first if like me you're allergic to everything! 😆

Or you can just rub it in your knee. Better with a soaked cloth though.

It would be interesting to do one knee with castor oil and the other with olive oil or baby oil. Just to prove that the castor oil is actually the active agent here and not just the rubbing and wrapping?

Yes. Although I've used other rub in stuff on knee to no avail. Tiger balm, ibuprofen rub from doc etc. That said, even working as placebo is something I guess. 😊😆

I’m glad you suggested that as it makes me feel less ‘off the wall ‘ for mentioning Tiger Balm . Massaged in to pulse points around an offending joint - Maybe imaginary but I find it helps. Now I think about it it’s base is probably castor oil..

(No tigers are involved in its production )

If it helps it helps, doesn't really matter why in my opinion. Lots of conventional drugs work for some and not others. It's a bit like flinging pasta at a wall to see if it sticks! 🤣

No tigers or castor oil! I think it's cassia oil in the balm.

Make sure to do a skin test first. Leave pack on for a goodly time. Hope it works for you. If nothing else your skin will be fantastic!
