Timings of NDT and iron supplements

Hi all, I'm struggling to maintain ferritin levels whilst also trying to adhere to the timings of iron supplements around my NDT and other vitamins. My ferritin is rarely higher than 20s (in the last ten years the highest it has been was 52 just once). I've been on NDT for a year and am gradually approaching my optimal dose (long term Hashimito's undiagnosed for approx 25 years - diagnosed 15 months ago). My ferritin is currently 27. I take sodium feredetate on prescription and I can only manage one dose of sodium feredetate on my normal daily regimen of NDT, food, other vitamins and the number of hours I am awake for. Ideally I need three doses per day . The only way I can achieve this is if I squeeze in extra doses by reducing the time between NDT and iron, which would mean a three hour gap rather than the recommended 4 hours. Can anyone advise on whether this reduced time interval is likely to be adequate or is it just a 'suck it and see' situation? Many thanks for your help.

Do you need to take the iron supplements you have on an empty stomach?

If so, you may consider Three Arrows brand heme supplements, which at least will eliminate the food timing. They can be taken with or without food.

I think that upstairs I have an iron releasing patch that I bought to avoid the problems you are describing. I could check for you on a day when I have more energy to make sure it is iron but how about researching iron patches so you don't have the timing problems?
