Silly question
Take Phyllocontin tablet, morning and night. Last night I had tremendous cramping of legs and toes. Lasted about three hours. Every time I thought oh good it's away, it came back. Know you're not supposed to have alcohol with theophylline but surely two wee bottles can't have caused it? Rarely have a

Testicle hit by fast tennis ball.
Hello, I got hit by a tennis ball on my right testicle and it got swollen, my urologist gave me Brufen and some basic medicin. It's been 40 days now, the pain is reduced by 90% but I can feel the tube coming down to my testicle is stiff and swollen, it hurts if I touch it or pinch it! and also my testicle

PAF and lying down
Why does my PAF (probably vagal) so often start when I get into bed - sometimes I've hardly lain down and off it goes. I sleep on my right side as I've heard that is usually better for AF sufferers. It lasts for typically up to 2 hrs. I've had one catheter ablation (June 2015) which improved things enormously

Trolley for dialysis machine
Hello My husband will be starting CAPD at the beginning of July and then moving on to APD. We were told today that we will need to buy a trolley to keep the machine on - does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks Annie

JIA Painting Competition
I was thrilled to be asked to judge this competition, held at the Evelina Children's Hospital, next to St Thomas's in Lambeth. I found time to say a few words (positive of course) about each entrant and then announced the winners in the two age groups. Firstly, the older group. This was a tough one

natural ways to lower high levels of urid acid...?
My doctor put me on prescription drug Zyloric a couple of months ago, after my uric acid levels turned out to be too high. However, I have not (and have never had) any symptoms or signs of gout. I am wondering if there are any supplements that you could use to naturally lower uric acid levels, without

Hyperfibrinogen & ADT
New study [1] below. I recently posted a paper on the role of platelets & abnormal coagulation factors in metastasis. The current paper looks at fibrinogen. In the coagulation cascade, platelets clump together to form a plug, & fibrin is deposited around it to form the body of the clot. This can happen

Miracle Gel That Conquered One Woman's Arthritis
I just read this and it may be a lot of whooey but worth a try. This woman had terrible arthritis in her knees and, after trying Flexiseq, she now can walk miles without pain. Oh wouldn't it be nice if it were true? The results from 6 different clinical studies involving 4,000 patients found that

Gout and prostate ca
http://www.hindawi.com/journals/mi/2015/680853/ Any other members with prostate cancer also suffer from gout? Had first flare of gout at age 39 and diagnosed with prostate cancer at 44. Gout appears to be a risk factor for cancer, particularly prostate cancer. See link. Other research concurs.

Fibrinogen
New Shanghei study below. The formation of a clot involves (a) the clumping of platelets around the wound, & (b) the action of thrombin on fibrinogen to produce fibrin, the substance of the clot. Fibrinogen would seem to be a fairly benign entity. It requires thrombin to turn it into a clot. LabCorp
