Caring for mam Post Liver Transplant
So nervous! My mam is in the operating theatre finally getting her #livertransplant It's been a rough few years (including dealing with the alcoholism). I can't believe it's actually happening. Anyone been a carer for liver failure then transplant? Just wondering how long should I expect to continue

Hyperreflexia
I would love to hear others' experience with hyperreflexia as result of PA. I have periods (often in the last days before my injection), when I get low-level random muscle twitches, mostly in my arms and back, then they subside. I have been found to be hyperreflexive in reflex tests since my PA diagnosis

Cirrhosis and dealing with salt & sugar cravings
Hello, I have (3 mths ago) been officially confirmed by fibroscan & ultrasound with F4 Cirrhosis. Unknown to me, or not taking liver disease seriously, I have had pretty bad liver problems for at least 6 years. To be honest, I am still trying to get my mind around it. A few months ago, I was quite

Alt/AST ratio...
I still don’t know what this means exactly but out of curiosity I’ve done mine. I have alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver and my readings at my last blood test were... ALT 45 AST 34 Ratio 0.75 All within normal range(apparently).

Coping with what could have been
My husband has recently been very ill and had a liver transplant which is working wonderfully. I can't stop thinking about what could have happened if he had not had the transplant. He had sepsis in March and almost died and was going downhill fast just before his transplant. I'm driving myself crazy

AST/ALT Ratio
I am worried as my enzymes are now normal, but my ast is always higher than alt. Like 16 and 11. I read many people say that if the numbers are in range it does not mean cirrhosis. I have not had any scans since I originally had elevated enzymes many years ago. Keep keep saying it only matters if you

Inr/pt
Got a question because cannot get straight answers. Just say someone did have cirrhosis and was having easy bleeding and bruising your platelets would be low right? And your inr would be abnormal right? So with that being said if your platelets are normal your inr will be normal also meaning cirrhosis

Scared and Not Sleeping
Hi, On Wednesday I am seeing a gastro to check for liver damage. I was diagnosed with hypontremia (low sodium) and still not sure what is causing. I also have High B12 levels which can be indicative of liver problems. My bloodwork is normal, although on occasion my AST was a wee bit high. My last test

Advice on weight loss with cirrhosis
Does anyone have any advice for losing weight with cirrhosis? My brother has been sober for 2 years now after being decompensated. All his levels are good and his liver has regenerated to a level. He has real trouble sleeping and has a carb snack before bed to get him through the night as advised by

Decompensated cirrhosis and kidney failure
Mom (age 72) was diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis with refractory ascites and HE. Soon after creatinine jumped to 7 and her kidney failed. Afterwards, she was on CAPD + rosavel, rifagut & weekly albumin. Also salt intake. Survived 28 months and left us due to heart attack and infection. Doctor

Worried about results
I have recently been in hospital and diagnosed with pyelonephritis. Whilst undergoing blood tests abnormalities were found with my liver. ALT and GTL both raised whilst in hospital, repeat bloods a week after showed both had lowered quite a bit but still high. Bilirubin in normal range. Had an mri of

Gastropathy
When I posted does this point to cirrhosis. I had on there what my doctor back then 2009 found on my endoscopy esophagus normal. It shows chronic superficial gastritis with changes suggestive of reactive gastropathy. Does that mean portal hypertension? I read portal hypertension causes portal hypertension
