Mom (age 72) was diagnosed with decompensated cirrhosis with refractory ascites and HE.
Soon after creatinine jumped to 7 and her kidney failed.
Afterwards, she was on CAPD + rosavel, rifagut & weekly albumin. Also salt intake.
Survived 28 months and left us due to heart attack and infection. Doctor said there is nothing much that could be done as her internal body cells were dying as two critical organs have failed.
Was there any better possible outcome ?
Doctor refused transplant saying both kidney and liver transplant would be needed and odds of survival after operation was very low.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your mum. Sadly if she was that seriously poorly at diagnosis there probably wasn't any other possible outcome. Multiple organ failure is very difficult to treat and at her age she would probably have been too frail for transplant especially that of two organs and even if she'd been put forward for t/p she probably didn't have the time left to have potentially waited for the right organs.
Remember her as she was in life, don't keep looking for alernative outcomes because doctors would have done all they could to give Mum the best chance only it wasn't to be.
Thoughts with you,
Katie
