Husband has the BRCA2 mutation, does this change treatments?
My husband just had genetic testing done & he has the BRCA2 mutation. All his MO told us about was needing to do monthly self breast exams (MO also did one at visit), needs yearly skin exams & higher risk for pancreatic cancer. She didn't tell us anything about PARP inhibitors, as some of you have mentioned

Back to basics TSH question ...
Am I missing something? This follows my second Consultant's, second appointment. This is a basic question, I know, but if a patient's TSH is elevated above range, 0.04 - 4.00, is this solely judged as a marker for under-active thyroid or can it be interpreted as being significant for 'something else'

HOPE!
This picture will be one we can all relate to, too well! I was told yesterday by a member of the crisis team that I CAN beat my anxiety, a little reminder to you all that what we all suffer with doesn’t have to be who we are, keep taking it a day at a time and SPEAK! other methods of counselling and

Health anxiety or something sinister???
Hi there, I just wanted to share my story of the range of symptoms I’ve been experiencing for the past few months and please bear with me as this post will be a long one! Although I haven’t been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, I have been suffering with some really debilitating anxiety since December

OCD and trauma
Hi there, I was told following an assessment that I have trauma and also show OCD traits. I think that I have more OCD than that as I was really covering it a lot, as I am so used to dealing with it privately, in my own mind. I feel like they are mixed together and that I am traumatised, but it can also

Overcome
I'm sorry you are going through such hardships. Stress in a work place can lead to depression but we also must find ways to deal with the stress even if it is going to counseling or taking medication. Have thought about seeing a counselor? Have you applied to other jobs with same qualifications? As

New to group, wanted to share experience
I've recently been identified to have a BAP1 mutation upon
genetic
counseling
, which is a cancer predisposition syndrome highly associated with RCC and a number of other cancers (currently the youngest documented case...yippee!). Anyway, happy to have others to share with, all the best.

CBT - How low can you go?
I am 43. If I wrote a book and managed to cover every trauma I have experienced, without missing anything it would be several volumes long and even I wouldn't believe all that crap happened to 1 person. I know me personally and I hardly believe it. I remember things in my life that were very likely

Cll and my mutation
I switched doctors after 8 years of recurring cll....imbruvica zydelig rhituxin with all plus others...just wasn’t working (for me). My new doctor was surprised that the old never did a bone marrow test (it doesn’t hurt like the old days). Well that and a genetic test revealed I had tp53 mutated gene

Hello. I wish the best for everyone.
Looks like it was last October when I joined this forum. I haven't introduced myself yet. May I describe myself in a metaphor? I seem to be someone stuck off the side of the highway of life. I can't seem to keep up with the traffic. I feel like the world and everyone around me is operating at a speed

I'm stuck on a 'wait and see'
Background.... Started having various joint pain issues and a wonky coccyxx over two years ago. Spent a lot of time being told not to sit on it (yes a qualified medical professional advised me to just not sit on my own ass) and that it was just me being too weak. I switched gps after I lost about 70%

Update ....... I think.....
So, since changing from my poop to good gp, getting my referral, being given no information at said referral and having another battery of testing, we are still nowhere. From the RA i found I'd written down some stuff wrong. She advised she suspected rheumatoid arthritis, Juvenile arthritis or a third

Started PARP inhibitor Olaparib and Provenge treatment
I am BRCA2+. Was on Zytiga for just six months after it initially lowered my PSA from 20 to 0.12, but started rising to 0.55. Switched to Olaparib five weeks ago. Also started Provenge 3 weeks ago, just having finished my second of three rounds. PSA now back down to 0.13 probably due to Olaparib and
