Which blood work and/or criteria was used to diagnose your PBC?
I'm 49, female and my gastroengerologist has quickly made the PBC diagnosis based on positive AMA (84.4 units , pos = >24.9), elevated AST (44, scale of 0-40), ALT (38, scale of 0-32), and high IGM 730 (scale of 40-230). My ALB and BIL are within acceptable range and three separate tests have also shown

hi there, I have just been diagnosed and took my first dose of methotrexate this week, I am 40 and my symptoms started 6 weeks after giving birth to my daughter, she's now 12 weeks, I also have a 9 and 5 year old. Am I being paranoid?
Saw endo, had blood results. Her comments to GP were TSH fine at 0.45, BP fine, need synacthen for adrenals, B12 very low -- please do intrinsic factor test. Just went into the surgery for bloods GP had requested, some of which I knew overlapped with what endo had requested. Said to nurse, all I appear

B12 level and effect on thyroid.
My B12 measurement came back at 148ng/l which the endo notes is low. She's told GP to measure intrinsic factor antibodies as regards pernicious anaemia. Can someone tell me what this means in actuality -- ie, what it means to show a very low B12 measurement and what the physical effects might be? Thanks

Triggers for joint pain
I suppose I'm lucky in that I do not have constant joint pain and rarely need to take pain killers. I've passed the TSH test and now take 25mcg Levo. I was far more ill when borderline, 20 years ago, or maybe just got used to it. I do, definitely notice that an aching throat and joint pain go together.Flu

A long explanation but hopefully a shorter answer
From a previous blog I wrote what happened when I went to see the doctor with my Blue Horizon tests and they explained they couldn’t treat me on their results so I had to have their blood tests. I rang two weeks later and was told they were all in so went to see the locum doctor about the results

Recovery is possible assuming you know what's really wrong - Part 6a -The Gut
Hello All - apologies for delay in this one - traveling. Soooo...the gut - a massive topic - a massive organ. First off - and not to scare you - a quote - "death begins in the gut" Nobel prize winner Elie Metchnikoff (and I'm pretty sure a Greek whose name I've forgotten)

What do I need to do to get diagnosed-UPDATED
I am new to this site and I am desperate to find some answers. I am almost 42 years old and am female. I am 'borderline' hypothyroid according to my GP. I have type 2 diabetes, which is not very well controlled despite me taking an injection of 1.2 of Victoza every morning. I eat a healthy diabetic

The skin thing!
There has been mention of this issue a couple of times - excess skin after weight loss. So I've done a bit of hunting about. It seemingly works something like this: Firstly, excess skin is probably not going to be a problem if you're talking weight loss of less than about 100lb / 45Kg / 7 stone
