Chemo or no Chemo?
I had a TAH at the end of May. 16 hours later a had an emergency operation for a stomach
embolism
. My Surgeon ha recommended chemo even though the results showed a Stage 1A. However, my oncologist says I do not require the Chemo. Any suggestions? I'm confused. Should I ask for a second opinion?

Treating pulmonary embolism at home is it possible?
Is it possible to be treated for your pulmonary
embolism
(PE) at home rather than in hospital. More than possible is it safe?

Have met a couple of consultants recently who have a gobsmackingly different opinion of Hughes syndrome!
Was diagnosed with Hughes by Hughes a couple of years ago and have had 4 positive Anticardiolipin tests over time but although I have had plenty of TIA-like events and a 'suspected' DVT and PE, there is no hard evidence of clotting e.g. DVT ultrasound doc was undecided whether it was a clot or not and

Hysterectomy done now the HRT decision
So after many sleepless nights due to the pain of endo & the worry I finally had my hysterectomy last wednesday, including removal of my ovaries & tubes. I must admitt I am in nowhere near as much pain as i thought i would be & i am feeling more positive & optemistic than i have done in years so hopefully

Does phlebitis in surface veins show up in an ultrasound?
I have had a couple of leg venous ultrasounds, which I passed with flying colors, in the past year. But recent developments -- pain goes away with higher INR, the stronger the leg muscles get, now that I have returned to exercise and PT --the less pain in my legs I feel -- All suggest that the DVT-like

My diagnosis
Hi all, I am new to the site and this is the second time I have tried to post this so fingers crossed it works this time! I suffered a DVT back in 1998 when my two boys were 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 respectively so a surprise to everyone that with all that running around and as a non-smoker I'd be a candidate

Does my diagnosis of Lupus Anticoagulant mean that I have Antiphospholipid Syndrome, and is Hughes Syndrome another name for this, please?
I am male, 55 years old, and have been diagnosed as 'positive for Lupus Anticoagulant Antibody', following a pulmonary
embolism
completely at variance with risk factors or lifestyle. Very little follow-up info from hospital or GP.

My Day of Hell
They eventually worked out what was wrong with me and sent me for a CT scan, which showed that I had a major pulmonary
embolism
and they would need to operate on me straight away. Obviously I did not know the severity of this until a few days later.

Positive Thinking does make the journey easier My Story
Unfortunately by the sixth week I had a reaction by way of an
embolism
in my right foot, this prompted the oncologist to stop the treatment and go to surgery after a 4 week rest period from the chemotherapy. On the 8th November I went to theatre from a ivor-lewis procedure .

The Science of APS
But, AND THIS IS IMPORTANT, the author traces actual thrombotic events (DVT, pulmonary
embolism
, etc.) to a SECOND factor, that TRIGGERS the clotting event. One such infectious factor is Lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

'Funny Turns' and Hughes Syndrome
Having been diagnosed with Hughes Syndrome in 2002 (main symptoms: numb fingers, blind spots, migraines, dizziness, unsteady gait, speach and memory problems) and having seen Prof Hughes, then and subsequently, I was tried first with 75mg aspirin (no effect), then Plavix (no effect), then 5,000IU Fragmin
