To Eat Fat or Not Fat?xe
Hi, I have dieted on and off for years and have had the “Low Fat” is best message tattooed on ?@7my brain. However I know that thought on this are changing. With high cholesterol I thought reducing Lipids is a good idea by adopting low fat diet and exercising. I am aware of healthy fats such as nuts

Outside of low carb, my focus for a while has been fasting. There is of course Michael Mosley and his '5:2 diet' and latterly his 'Fast 800' which are essentially fasting diets. This chimes with me for a couple of reasons. Firstly. My boys are 15 and 18. They are sick to the back teeth of me and my LCHF

New
I was worked up for PBC a year ago. Had inconclusive results with Gastroenterologist but my Primary care md is concerned for high alkaline phosphotase (6 times normal high) etc. AMA negative and biopsy showed portal inflammation. Urso didn’t lower alp much so was discontinued. Now have very watery diarrhea

Newbie to LCHF - feeling exhausted- is this normal???
Hello, after restarting here 2 weeks ago, in my second week, inspired by Binky68 I started LCHF and 16:8 fasting. Today, however, I have just slept nearly the whole afternoon and feel a bit low... is this normal? I read that some people feel flu like after a few days- does it stop quickly? I’m a teacher

People In Okinawa Live Longer Than Almost Anyone On Earth. Here’s What They Eat.
I know many here promote low carb diet so it will be somewhat controversial . Since I live in Japan and follow typical Japanese diet I wanted to share with you this article. BTW, I have PMR for 3 + years and with this diet I have not gain any weight at all. I know this will come as a surprise, Japanese

Cholecystitis (Gallbladder Inflamation)
My GP told me when she diagnosed gallstones that it was very unlikely that any surgeon would consider removing my gallbladder because of its close proximity to the liver. I should add that by her own admission my doc knows little about cirrhosis, which is my claim to fame on here! However, recently

Living with PSP
I was diagnosed with P.S.P in Sept 2018 and just today attended my first PSPA meeting at Liner Hotel which I found quite daunting but informative. I am still very nervous about what the future holds but hope to remain positive but feel sorry for my wife who will be caring for me.

Damn the Torpedoes Part 2. Impact of exercise on a low calorie, LCHF diet.
Generally speaking, the average woman needs 2000 calories; men 2300. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll just use 2300, which will include basal metabolic requirements (just living breathing, repairing, digesting etc) and basic everyday mundane activity, but excludes exercise. We need 2300, but are

NEAD (Not Eating All Day) AKA Intermittent Fasting
Intermittent Fasting (IF) is a safe, easy way to lose weight without counting calories. You can use IF as an initial methodology for weight loss, or you can switch to it - if what you are doing does not work, or has stopped working. With enough incentive or motivation (e.g. diabetes or cancer) you can

My MRI of lower gut came back normal. I am now befuddled as to why I am still in pain when I eat. Trying a gluten free diet in the hopes that will help. Any ideas or suggestions?

OPERATION NEXT WEEK
Hi everyone, I joined this forum in early January. i Have Polymyalgia Rheumatica and am on steroids for that. Compared to some on steroids I did quite well in only gaining a stone in three years, while ‘playing’ with low carb, but did not realise the significance of combining low carb with high fat

How I Conquered Heart-Disease and What I Have Learned in the Process
Before I relay the story, please read this first: What is the nature of your diet? Do you consume: - soft drinks, alcohol or fruit juices? If so, how often? - pasta, rice, bread, pizza, potatoes? - potato chips (crisps), pretzels, crackers? - fried foods (including fried eggs)? French fries? -

thyroid, fibroids and gluten
I'm sure there is a connection with thyroid and fibroids as I feel very sluggish with bloated stomach, recently I went on a gluten free diet now just a few weeks and I must say I feel a lot better, so hopefully this will work

New to LCHF after years of being on WW diet
Hi Just a brief background on me, I was overweight as a teenager and I lost 2&1/2 stone with weight watchers, and maintained my weight. I was bullied for being overweight at school and a family member, so unfortunately, this memory is always at the back of my mind. Fast forward many years later I

Medicheck Result - disappointed
Results back from medicheck, and everything is still borderline. I keep to a gluten free diet. I'm really at a lost, I'm always tired and I easily pick up infections or viruses. I'm now 35, in the past 15yrs I've had shingles, Henoch-Schönlein purpura, stomach ulcer and had a triple ankle break not counting
