PATIENT LED RESEARCH
As there is no research under way or planned in the UK, maybe we should set up our own patient led research group. Sufferers of Long Covid are leading the way in this area. Perhaps we could put out a call to all UK members of this forum with relevant knowledge or experience to move forward? It’s clear

Can we prevent, slow or halt, improve symptoms and reduce the severity of Parkinson's?

Substantial Effects from Mannitol
My husband started Mannitol about five months ago. He has had PD since 2006, and the past 2 years has suspected dementia. He has stiffness, postural instability, gait issues, but no tremor. As a result of Mannitol, he no longer needs his Dopamine meds. Here is his current daily regime: 20mg numenda

My Basic "Understanding" of PD Has Been Wrong
We all know that the causes of Parkinson's Disease are complicated, varied, and not completely known. Yet, I have always understood that, at its core, PD is the gradual and unpreventable death of dopinergic neurons caused by the misfolding of a protein and the accumulation and aggregation of alpha synuclein

Dopamine Detox
I did a dopamine detox a month ago for 15 days. No music, fapping, movies, tv series, junk food. It helped me a lot and I got used to it. I'm doing one again. And it hurts cause I've seen so many TV series and all in the past few days that I am feeling restless not doing it. It hurts but I'm going to

Fisetin
Fisetin has been covered in other posts but there may be something new here. Fisetin is a polyphenol found in foods like strawberries. Fisetin shows promise as a senolytic, or compound that removes harmful senescent cells. Dr. Terry Burns is a neurosurgeon who sees promise for such compounds for neuroregeneration

Niacin and Butyrate: Nutraceuticals Targeting Dysbiosis and Intestinal Permeability in Parkinson’s Disease
Niacin PD patients are found to have significantly decreased niacin levels compared to age-matched healthy controls [52]. This has been attributed to both the disease itself and the medication used to attenuate motor symptoms [58]. Sinemet, the most commonly used PD medication, includes carbidopa, which

Stem Cell Transplantation at Mass General
I have posted about this particular stem cell transplantation at least twice before. I understand that it was a "pay for play" situation. I understand that it is an "N of 1" situation. I understand that "placebo effect" could be a factor. I understand that much broader studies may be necessary. With

Temgesic is working!
I have been on the neupro patch for a number of years with great results. However, I know it’s only time before augmentation kicks in. So after reading previous posts about Temgesic I discussed it with my GP. She agreed to prescribe it and I have been great for past 12 days. I’m glad to be off the Dopamine

What can we do to overcome that overwhelming sensation of thrill?
