Avoid levodopa phobia
I was reading Simon’s latest article about the PD drug development pipeline, which is a good read anyway - https://scienceofparkinsons.com/2020/12/02/drug-pipeline/ - and watched this video from Dr Kelly Mills of Johns Hopkins University about disease-modifying vs symptomatic therapy - https://youtu.be

"Alternative" treatments are not harmless when whey cost you quality of life
It's common to read on this forum that alternatives are harmless and have no side effects. But what about when a PWP eschews traditional treatment in favour of an alternative, and their quality of life suffers as a result? All we have is the immediate future. Today. Probably tomorrow. Maybe the day

Some of you have reached out to me and have asked after hubby so I thought I would start a new post. Thank you for asking and for your concern. It’s been about 5 months since I last checked in. To be honest I needed an escape from seeing how many newbies have had a need for this site, how many people

Confused and down.
I find it really hard to put into words how I feel. I've never experienced such low mood before. My brain feels like fog. There's like a little circle in the middle of brain that can focus, and the rest is just a blurry surrounding. I used to gamble while I had mild depression , because I craved that

Failing test
I was seen by a neuropsychologist two days ago. for a mental examination. He warned me it would be a difficult test. He didn't mention it would take over 3 hours. At first I felt I was doing well but as the hours passed I sorta crumbled under the pressure. Maybe low blood sugar from skipping

Article from John-Hopkins regaurding the effects of opiates on RLS
No question, I just wanted to post some of an article regaurding the effects of opiates on RLS (the full text can be found on John Hopkins university website. Dr. Willis (as in Willis-Ekbomb disease / RLS) in his description of this disease in 1685 also reported on the benefits of opiates for treating

What happened to the post, Change Your Brain: Neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Huberman ?
I watched the video then went outside to exercise. When I came back in a couple hours later I can't find it. Maybe because dopamine wasn't mentioned til 40 minutes into the post? It started with Dr H talking about his rough upbringing, yahda, yahda, yahda. Boring. Then he says dopamine release

6 year old with ADHD and ODD-Child has difficulty receiving compliments
When my son hears positive reinforcement and compliments, his behavior is much worse after. It’s almost as if he wants to prove his defiance and he can’t handle the dopamine spike. It makes it difficult to get him to the point of receiving more positive than negative feedback, especially with other

Has anyone suffered really bad fatigue after brain injury? Does anyone have any advice? X
Hi! I was wondering if anyone has suffered with really bad fatigue? If so what were some of the things that helped? My partner is in rehab (his injury happened at the end of July) at the moment but is so fatigued almost all the time that it is preventing rehab and even weaning him off of his tracheostomy

Augmenting on everything
Hi, I've been on codeine phosphate 60mg for the past 6 months and it's been fantastic but once again I seem to be augmenting on it, I've augmented on everything, tramadol, dopamine agonists, etc.. I really thought codeine was going to work this time, iron supplements really helped over the past 2 years

Myth about Parkinson's disease (and DATScan) debunked

Has anyone used Dipyridamole with effect for RLS?
I read that in 2014 and 2015 , Dr Ferre receieved grants from the RLS Foundation to more closely examine how dopamine and glutamate work in the brain. Apparently he found that low levels of receptors of adenosine, a chemical in the brain that regulates neurochemicals, lead to abnormally high levels

Results : Organic Acid Test (OAT) from Great Plains Laboratory.
I wanted to share the details of the results for my mother, based on Urine test . Hopefully, this will help a few on this forum. I am only indicating the High/Low items in the report. The remaining ( of the total of 77 items) were within the Ref. Range. See attached sample report from their website
