Wondering if dad has RLS instead of PD (or both?). Any RLS indicators here?
Hi new to learning about RLS. My heart goes out to everyone dealing with this.
I'm reading a lot of comments about experiencing Augmentation from Mirapex/Dopamine Agonists or that if dopamine therapy doesn't work on you, you may not have PD. I've been wondering if my dad has RLS or something else

Dystonia: WTF?!
Never saw this one coming. Funny, when you type this word into the search, there are very few posts with this in the title. Strange as this is becoming the symptom I fear and loathe most. During my 8 years with PD, I’ve been conscious of Dystonia in isolated areas like feet but about a year ago my diaphragm

I need help now
I am a 68-year old woman who was diagnosed with ADD (the Inattentive Type) 23 years ago, in 2000, by a reputable psychiatrist. She quickly put me on Ritalin and I have been taking it continuously since that time. I have done some incredible things and accomplished things I never even imagined due to

what are peoples thoughts on taking mucuna if you don’t have Parkinson’s. Is it likely to adversely affect the brain? My son who is 20 has difficulty with concentration, mood, anxiety and motivation and often displays ADHD symptoms. For the last 2 years at school he mucked about and didn’t finish, worked

When we talk about revolution "against" the world of Parkinson's...

Hallucination side effect & Medication Management
hi! new here.... My dad is newly diagnosed and is having hallucinations from his Parkinson meds. He is bradykinesia dominant with lower back pain. Right now we're not sure what is causing the hallucinations but I think I have a good idea, just that the doc is not on board with the titration process.

RLS-UK New Film - Ropinirole/Pramipexole/Neupro Patch
RLS-UK is commissioning a new film by a documentary company called SuperFolk Films. They have worked with other charities, including Parkinson's UK. The team would like to interview and film UK patients currently reducing Dopamine Agonists. Preferably, near the last stage of reduction. If you are

which way to go (severe RLS)
Dear members, I am here trying to help my mother, whose RLS is poorly controlled these days. Just some background info: in 2021 she was put on Pramipexole, first just 0.125 mg was controlling her symptoms well, but it only lasted for half a year maybe. So her current dose is 0.375, which she splits

Rytary update
I may be getting close to going back to regular C/L . Rytary does give me longer ON times, which allow me to eat three times per day. I had lost 20 lbs last year, and had been able to slow the weight loss, but not stop it entirely. Now I’ve gained a couple of pounds. BUT. I had finally stabilized

What are ‘off’ periods – and how can they impact people with Parkinson’s disease?
“The ‘off’ state can kick in when levodopa is eliminated from our body – and people begin to express motor symptoms that are related to the low amount of dopamine going to the brain.” Other types include partial ‘on’ or dose failure: “Sometimes, a dose of medication may provide incomplete relief of

Advice needed
I have been on Dopamine meds since 2010 and am presently on 2mg Neupro patch which I was switched to in 2016 by a Neurologist. The inevitable Augmentation is now so bad I need to come off it. I had a trial of Gabapentin in 2015 but developed a very serious depression ( never suffered it before or since

Weaning off high dose Pramipexole
I have had RLS since the 1970s. Some years ago I had augmentation. At the time I was taking the maximum recommended dose of Pramipexole, .75mg. My neurologist addressed it by a pramipexole vacation and prescribed carbidopa levodopa for 3 months. Seemed odd as it is a dopamine drug but it worked

Feeling we are losing control and that things will be worse in the future, adds stress & anxiety which creates a destructive feedback loop.

Song 4 about depression
Verse 1 Walk with a smile while you dying on the inside Face all your days while you'd rather just stay inside Keep your shit together while you broken on the inside Don't say a word keep the thoughts on the inside No one can know how you doing on the inside Take all the hate and then point it to

A cross in the sand
Does anyone else find this explanation helpful -- ? Imagine yourself sitting on the beach and you draw a cross in the sand like an 'x'. The first stroke represents your dopamine deficiency and the second stroke you draw several times as it represents an overactive adrenal response subsequent to the HABIT

Rytary… might stop??
After 6 days the following impressions… I do get about an hour longer ON per dose. I was on a four hour cycle with IR, with about 2-3.5 ON per dose, depending on food. Rytary gives me 4 hour ON on a 5 hour dose cycle, BUT, the afternoon slump around 3 pm (halfway between doses, but when endogenous

Iron Infusion Attempt
This week I saw Dr Robin Fackrell privately at Bath Sulis Hospital to discuss whether an iron infusion would be an appropriate way forward for me and if so how I could progress this. The outcome of the session is that Dr Fackrell will write back to my GP recommending this course of action for my RLS

Mitochondrial failing due to T3 problems
My research online using Artificial Intelligence has firmly linked T3 failing to Mitochondrial failing. Thyroid T4 I note from my blood test results that I have low TSH, the bottom of the acceptable range of 0.45 mu/L At age 65, 0.5 is considered to be the lowest acceptable level. I asked an AI system
