Ipsen and IRLAB enter exclusive worldwide licensing agreement aimed to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease
Mesdopetam is being assessed in Phase IIb clinical trials as a potential treatment option for people living with Parkinson’s disease (PD) experiencing levodopa-induced dyskinesia (LID). It is estimated that approximately 40-50 percent of people living with PD will experience LID after five years of initiating

MS and RLS, Top UK Neurologist talks about Dopamine Agonists
One of the top MS neurologists in the UK has written about RLS in MS patients and states that he does not prescribe dopamine agonists because of the risk of augmentation. He also prescribes methadone for refractory RLS. It's a small step, but hopefully, little by little, the message will get through

Provigil (Modafinil) for fatigue 'n stuff
Saw my Neurologist yesterday for my 6 month regular visit. He asked how I was doing. I told him good in that I intermittently get my sense of smell back, but bad because I get fatigued very easily, despite the crazy amount of exercise I do. Without hesitation, he offered to have me try Provigil. I had

Resting Tremor Stopped Briefly With Hypnosis
In 1995 I visited a GP. I forget the reason. She did something surprising that has persisted all these years. I think it may be important in understanding some cases of "Parkinson's Disease". Out of the blue this GP said she could give me something that would help me relax. This turned out

Incontinence and dopamine agonists
Hi - just a short post about my mum. Anyone know if DAs can affect bladder control at all? My mum seems blighted by this (she is elderly so it could just be an age thing). Thanks!

Long read. Promises hope for stroke victims. https://www.wired.com/story/the-psychedelic-scientist-who-sends-brains-back-to-childhood/ ----------------- Here is the responses from AI when fed this article. I asked Claude to summarize the article and hypothetically project possible treatment options

New Dopamine Receptors found
I find this research interesting. The researchers focused on Parkinsons Disease, but it seems reasonable to me that there may be more receptors that are specific to RLS as well. I hope future research will look at RLS as well as Parkinsons. https://www.sciencealert.com/surprise-discovery-about-dopamine-may-help-explain-parkinsons

Patients may not be aware that some common drugs used for conditions such as headache or gastrointestinal dysmotility may also block dopamine, and concomitantly worsen Parkinson’s disease, or alternatively result in parkinsonism. Are you taking these antioxident vitamins to cure your gut?
As you know, the consensus from docs is that our PD started in our gut (and some say our nose, as well because we breathed-in crap that caused our PD) ... And I recently posted another very interesting YouTube interview with a top neurologist who says that our PD is caused by ... bacteria ... pathogens

Parkinson's and RLS at the same time.
Does anyone have experience with the double wammy? I read that 50% of Parkinsons Disease (PD) patients also have Restless Legs Syndrome. Since the principal treatment for PD appears to be dopamine agonists such as pramipexole I wonder if most of these patients soon augment or if there is some

Gabapentine or Pregabalin?
I am wondering whether there is any difference between Gabapentine and Pregabalin in terms of effectiveness. I take 2400 mg Gabapentine per day in 3X800 mg doses, but while I sleep my ok wife cannot sleep because of my movement. I am wondering if there is any other possible treatment that might work

Sigh... 😔🥱😒 Hallucinations side effects from meds on top of neck & back pain affecting sleep schedule
This is very frustrating. Before starting any Parkinson meds this year, back pain (spinal stenosis but don't need surgery "do PT", insomnia and frequent urination (was told BPH) were my dad's only health issues. Healthy in every other aspect. Now, 2 months in, he has hallucinations as a side effect

Pregabalin versus Gabapentin
After coming off Pramipexole / dopamine after 20 years I am now in 250mg Pregabalin plus 4mg Targin. Does anyone have a medical answer as to what has less side effects out if Pregabalin and Gabapentin? Since starting Pregabalin, I have been less alert, my vision is less acute and I feel forgetful and

Chris Lacey speaks!
I was doing some emailing with Chris last week. I asked him what his thoughts were on what actually changed in his brain following a couple of years of intensive and detailed woodworking, 6 hours daily, 6 days a week. I wanted to know HOW the creation of new neural pathways had encouraged his brain 🧠

Coming off Pramipexole
I'm a 65 year old female in Norfolk in the UK, with hereditary RLS for which I was prescribed X1 every evening 0.088mg Pramipexole some 10 (possibly?) years ago. A year ago I had a single mastectomy, am on Anastrazole oestrogen suppressant hormone treatment and a Calcium/D3 supplement for that, along

Dopamine Agonist withdrawal syndrome
On what would have been Robin Williams' 72nd birthday, a reminder of how dangerous dopamine agonists can be. If you mention DAWS to a UK doctor, they have no idea what we are talking about. They mistakenly say it only happens if the patient had Impulse Control Disorder. It can affect anyone taking these

Roprinerole Withdrawl
Hi everyone,I have been following all of you with your valuable advice for some time now but have never joined in. Well, it's now time to ask for your personal advice. I have been suffering with RLS for over thirty years and have tried just about every medication. I have been on Roprinerole for at least
