Protocols for initial fatty liver finding
As my husband was just diagnosed with cirrhosis he’s wondering if his GP should have counselled him on alcohol use when she noticed a fatty liver a year ago after bloodwork. I recently accessed an ultrasound he had three years ago after a fall and the fatty liver was noted on the report, yet he was never

WET AMD on a third world country
Hello, I'm from Philippines. I'm just 23 and I'm sure that I have a wet macular degeneration. On my left eye. It's totally dark or wavey on the central line. It's like there's a fluid on my eye when I look around. My right eye is starting to have the same symptoms. I've been suffering this for almost

We have seen the Heptologist
Finally the day arrived and he was great. He told us the the Child’s Pugh score was 10 and I can’t remember the name for,the other score but he said to be considered for Liver Transplant the score is 49 and my husband’s score was 51. He is putting him on to Rifaximin and wants him to reduce the amount

Raised bilirubin and abdominal pain
Hi, So for just under a year now I’ve been having on and off mild to moderate abdominal pain just below my ribs on the right side. I’ve had numerous blood tests which have all show raised bilirubin. Ranging for 35 to 65umol. I’ve had an abdominal ultrasound Which came back normal. But the pain has still

Fatty liver
Need advise. I have grade 3 fatty liver from alcohol I think. Was certainly a drinker. Binge one at that over many years decades. My cap score was 328. I've not drank for 1 year now. I've lost abit of weight by cutting bk on unhealthy food. Does anyone know if stopping drinking and watching what I eat

Lungs
I have ALD and am currently on 50mg Spironolactone for ascites and 40mg Propanolol for varices. I keep getting slightly bubbly lungs when I lie down for a while and in the morning. Is this related to the ALD or entirely separate? Thanks. Wendy

Tedsui looking for support
Hi - I'm a newbie to this site as my husband has recently been diagnosed with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (this wasn't an option in the search box so I ticked PBC instead) He attends our local hospital weekly for blood tests and was an in-patient from 2l to 24 January 2020, as his liver blood results

Injections for life? Will health insurance or NHS pay?
I am "only" 53 and have needed to have 2 Eylea injections in my left eye to resolve a slight bleed. So far, so good, but I am wondering if I will need regular injections for the rest of my life? Has anyone else found that a few injections can stop the macular degeneration in its tracks? Also, will my

Increasing medication
I have chronic heart failure and
dilated
cardiomyopathy
. Still don't know why? It could be because of a family history but could also be because I'm a carrier for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which both my son's inherited. Sadly my oldest son passed away just before his 19th birthday.

having one’s replies switched off
I was unaware I’d committed a contravention(!) and extremely relieved the only punishment was to have my replies switched off! If we’re splitting hairs about what constitutes natural, the only additives in the products prescribed to me by Dr Peatfield are: Each capsule contains: Bovine Thyroid Gland

Difference after injection between Lucentis & Eyelea
After having Lucentis injections monthly for most of the last 2 to 3 years it was felt that a switch to Eyelea might help. Had the second set of injections a couple of days ago and I feel that my eyesight is slightly worse after the injections which is not something I felt with the Lucentis injections

Hello :)
I was diagnosed with
Dilated
Cardiomyopathy
and Myocarditis in March 2006, after a virus attacked my heart muscle 6 months previous. The scar tissue means I also have VT, AT, AF and thousands of PVCs per day.

First post and I am a wife of a sufferer
Hi and thanks for even reading this. My husband was diagnosed beginning of Sept with alcoholic liver disease and had ascites, oedema, some jaundice, tiredness etc. Our GP has been amazing and he has had the ascites drained ( 8.75L) and condition is we think stable. I'm just finding it hard and ended

Suggestions for reducing spironolactone and furosemide without having a rebound
Anyone with experience or tips for reducing and coming off of diuretics. I have read about and experienced a rebound effect of putting on water weight quickly. My labs are great and my liver seems fine after 7 months of no alcohol, healthy living and some herbs my doctor approved I could take. I
