Delayed scans
So I was referred for a liver scan as my ggt was 216 and my alt was 42 everything else normal. Assumed it was alcohol related but didn’t think I drank that much! I rang today to chase as it’s been nearly 4 week, told me oh there’s a back log we’re doing all urgent scans so it’s probably going to be

Ggt not reducing after quitting alcohol
Hi, I have raised ggt levels. Was originally 280. I was a heavy drinker for years, bottle of wine around 4 days out of 7 but also lots of days off. After 3 months of not drinking my ggt reduces to 146 and after a further 6 months of not drinking it’s still at 147. Is it normal for it to stop decreasing

Symptoms of hepatic encephalopathy
Hello, I was wondering if people diagnosed with cirrhosis would kindly advise what their symptoms of HE were/are, in particular in relation to medication they have been prescribed. I’m taking long term medication, and now get a fuzzy head ( like elastic bands) and concerned this is a form of HE. not

So many issues, so little time!
I have
dilated
cardiomyopathy
which was controlled by drugs for 15 years or so, had an ICD fitted a few years back as a precaution (its fired twice now and if your on the list to have one and worrying, its not as bad as you think it will be!)

Dismissed by cardiologist with possible dilated cardiomyopathy?
The cardiologist just said he wanted another mri in 12 months as occasionally this could suggest
dilated
cardiomyopathy
- but didn’t arrange to see me again! which after reading about the condition actually seemed pretty damn accurate to my symptoms.

Newbie
I was diagnosed with
dilated
cardiomyopathy
in 2016 and then I was diagnosed in November 2019 with NAFLD/NASH. I've had all the usual tests but have only been able to have a phone consultation with the hepatologist Post diagnosis due to Covid 19.

Fatty liver and nosebleeds
Hi, i have had m.e for 9 years and the only thing wrong in my bloods At the beginning was my ALT Level was 52. 5 years later is 109 and i had an ultrasound which diagnosed me as having a fatty liver. My gp did nothing after that and couldn’t give me any idea of what percentage of my liver was fatty.

Interesting article: In-office gene therapy for wet age-related macular degeneration is coming
Gene therapy is showing promise for one of the most common causes of blindness. Data presented today shows that six patients with wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD) have, so far, gone at least six months without the need for continued injections to control a disease that typically requires treatment

Fatty liver or more?
Hi! In august i had a blood check up and my liver enzymes were tripled. Docter wanted me to come back in a month. So in september did a new check, and still too high. Got an ultrasound to check it and the result gave Fatty Liver. I am now doubting if it might be more serious and the Ultrasound didnt

Psychology vs physical diagnosis - help please!
I've a fair amount of experience in academic research into routes to improve subject motivation, both to prevent a number of health conditions with similar causality, and to reduce progression, or reverse them where possible, once established. For me, understanding exactly what is happening takes away

Fibroscan results please help me understand this
Hi everyone, I just go my results back from the fibroscan test. Hepatic parenchymal stiffness (measure of elasticity) : 13.1 kPa, with IQR/Median percentage of 27 % Hepatic steatosis grade (scale S0-S3): S3, Severe steatosis. I know this means severe fatty liver and fibrosis stage 3 but what i was wondering

Raised bilirubin and Gallstones
Hi First post: My Repeated blood Tests showed raised bilirubin of 33. A gp last year mentioned Gilbert syndrome as I haven’t symptoms. So as this year bilirubin levels are still high I went for an Ultrasound scan which confirmed gallstones . Could the raised bilirubin be the cause of gallstones or do
