Anyone with experience or tips for reducing and coming off of diuretics. I have read about and experienced a rebound effect of putting on water weight quickly. My labs are great and my liver seems fine after 7 months of no alcohol, healthy living and some herbs my doctor approved I could take. I feel great as well. Back to the gym. Gaining some muscle back. But I live in perhaps paranoid fear of ascites return. My doc is fine with what I'm on now -300 S and 120 F. But also said reducing is the goal as long as the ascites does not return. I have read that almost everyone will have water weight gain when going off of the pills. Your body needs to readjust. But how do you know if the weight is "normal" water weight or the evil ascites? I'm going to try to go slow and not freak out when a few pounds show up on the scale. But thought I would see if anyone out there may share their experience.

Hi. Has your doc suggested coming off them gradually as in take every other day then every 2 days etc etc ?
Merry Christmas!
Hi Wildlifegal, the advice I was given by my ANP was to weigh oneself daily. A slow steady gain in weight is usually muscle mass but a rapid and sudden weight gain (over a week) is water/ascites. My gain that would raise alarms was 5kg as a bench mark.
Hope that makes sense..
