SCARED
We're all scared absolutely witless when we get our diagnosis. You need to book an appointment with your GP as soon as you can get one, print out your post (above) and say to your GP "this is what I am worried about" and give it to him to read. He is the person who can give you the best advice and refer you on. In the meantime, ring the wonderful nurses on the BHF helpline and talk to one of them. I can;t find the number at the moment but hope Michael will see this post and add it. Take a deep breath and realise that you will get sorted out but it takes a while. Best wishes.

Hello and welcome to the forum! You have a few things going and as suggested you should speak to your GP or the BHF Helpline.
The Heart Helpline is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. The number to call is 0300 330 3311.
You can also email them at hearthelpline@bhf.org.uk
Hello, welcome to the forum. I’m sorry to hear of your situation and how you’re feeling. It’s such a huge shock when you first get lots of big medical terms to get your head around and it’s scary too. It’s absolutely normal to feel like this. But in time things settle and the way forward becomes clearer. A new normal establishes itself, not quite the same as before but that’s not to say it’s all bad.
My husband has Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) too and problems with his Aortic Valve. We found BHF website, booklets and nurse helpline really good and also Cardiomyopathy UK. They’re a charity like BHF but for this specific condition. Their website has loads of information explaining everything about DCM including a free introductory pack they can pop in the post to you. There’s a nurse helpline too - they’re wonderful. Here’s the link
And the phone number 0800 018 1024 weekdays 8:30 to 4:30.
There’s lots that can be done to help you, not just physically but mentally and emotionally too. Your GP is a good port of call if you can get an appointment as are the nurses at BHF and Cardiomyopathy UK.
When it comes to work, your GP should be signing you off until you’re well enough to be there.
I know all this is easy for me to say and much, much, harder to get through but as you’ll see from people’s stories on this forum, the early days after diagnosis are hard and there is hope. Feel free to shout out for support or a rant etc! Best wishes to you and your loved ones.
All I can say is have faith and hope u will be ok take care
