Good morning all, I was recently diagnosed with Early Dilated Cardiomyopathy.

I was diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM for short) back in June 2012 - I was in a bad way at the time and, given what I have learned about the condition since then I am fairly sure that if I had started on the drugs that were prescribed at the time I would not be here now - in 2024.

I've been trying to learn more about my partners dilated Cardiomyopathy by getting information from the Internet. All the information that I have read says that a person's life expectancy after diagnosis is 5 years so I feel very scared by this. Can anyone tell me if this is true, please?

I’m 39 and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy at 14. I was not symptomatic when diagnosed but detected because my father had genetic DCM and was in heart failure.i am currently moderate and have a EJ of 41%.

I have dilated cardiomyopathy but also associated with it, AF and heart failure. I have just been started on Entresto as an alternative to Ramipiril (which I had been on stably for 6 months).

I was in hospital June 2024 with the above conditions. Ejection Fraction was 10-15% so very serious. Fortunately I’ve improved since and now EF is 40% I’m taking Apixaban for a-fib and carvedilol (beta blocker), dapagliflozin, entresto, and spironolactone for HF. I’m getting some awful side effects

I made a post yesterday morning and since then I ended up in A&E - I have muscular dystrophy and dilated cardiomyopathy. I was on atenolol for 10 years and felt good on it!

Could the LVNC be from dilated cardiomyopathy or is it a separate defect altogether? Could my intermittent (mild) pains in heart area be caused by it as well as heart palpitations?

Hi All, I was diagnosed with non ischemic dilated cardiomyopathy in October. My ejection fraction was <20. They believe my condition has been caused by chemo and radiotherapy I had in the past. I am a teacher and have not returned to work.

I have Dilated Cardiomyopathy. Only symptom was prolonged palpitations. Had them all my life. I’m now 55. I had an ablation November 2023, so far that has helped massively with the palpitations. I get daily ectopics but they don’t affect me at all. They last seconds.
