Carbodopa Levadopa is it more poison than medicine?
I am the 71 year old husband and care partner for my wife of 49 years. She will be 71 next Tuesday and that marks the 1 year time mark on her Parkinsons journey. We were in New Mexico prior to her diagnosis and she walked with me everywhere on our quest to see the sites. Now, she has the severe Parkinsons

Messed up thyroid
So I am 17 and always had minor depression, that would come and go which was weird, and inconvienient because I could feel good all day and then and just go into brain fog and depression randomly, which was noticeable to others , which put me at a disadvantage in life. Now I tried my best to keep this

I hope this can assist
So about 2 months ago I wrote a post about neuroplastisity and wondered if it had any merit to it. I had some wonderful comments from people on this forum to which I was grateful, so since the gyms opened up about 6-8 weeks ago after quarantine I thought I'd give it a go. So I'm not on any supplements

how much time to go back to normal? stopped Escitalopram after two months, now dealing with secondary effects.
I am new in this forum, three months ago I started to become very anxious and falling into depression. I was living without depression for almost 4 years, and two years without any Escitalopram intake, which I reduced for almost two years until I was free from it. This year took me by surprise and started

DYSKINESIA vs DYSTONIA
i've been wondering after reading many posts here, whether I know the difference between dystonia and dyskinesia. My PD was preceded by the onset of vocal cord dystonia which means the vocal cords are very tight which makes it very difficult to speak. I get severe abdominal wall muscle tightness when

"European Parkinson Therapy Centre" - Impressions
Following the recommendation of our HU friend Marc, I decided to spend a week with “The European Parkinson Therapy Centre” in Norther Italy. It may be a little out of the way, but in my opinion, well worth the detour. The staff are well informed and charming (so is the owner Alex). Many staff members

Ritalin
Has anyone used Ritalin for boost in mood and motivation? My doctor has not prescribed it nor am I considering it...for now. I was reading about use of Ritalin in elderly patients because it was just prescribed for my elderly father. I do see studies of success in Parkinson's patients because it boosts

Iron and dopamine: a toxic couple
Iron accumulation is a cardinal feature of degenerating regions in the Parkinson’s disease brain. As a potent pro-oxidant, redox-active iron may be a key player in upstream mechanisms that precipitate cell death in this disorder. Although an elevation in brain iron levels is a normal feature of ageing

Help. Suddenly much worse
My husband was doing really well pre lock down and now even though in NZ we are back to normal he has taken a big step backwards with symptoms. He had been getting stiffer so has tried to take the C/L kinson which made him very nauseous so he was unable to take enough to do anything. He has just changed

I’d be interested if this works for anyone else
I read that histamine intolerance can cause restless legs so I looked up foods with much histamine. I’ve cut out bananas, avocado, yoghourt, citrus fruits, tomatoes and spinach. After a few days my RLS disappeared. I am still taking my dopamine agonists but have not increased the dose as I was planning

Fava beans for dopamine in Parkinson's...I searched here as I thought this subject had come up before, but didn't find any posts. Has anyone taken or eaten Fava beans for Parkinson's? What symptom is it supposed to help?

Things I didn't know about dopamine
This article about the brain’s master chemical, dopamine, is a little lengthy, but pretty informative and also gives ten natural ways to increase a person’s dopamine levels: Christina Sarich, Guest in Waking Times https://silverliningsandparkinsons.home.blog/2019/04/26/not-for-everyone/
