High Blood Pressure and Secondary Therapy
I may need to supplement Lupron with one of the secondary drugs. I see that virtually all of them can cause high blood pressure, especially Zytiga, which is taken with a low dosage of Prednisone. Does anyone have any insight on how or if V +O treatment affects insulin sensitivity?
My husband is on V+O treatment, on cycle 7, he also is type 2 diabetic. Ever since starting treatment, he has had to add fast-acting insulin after meals to his regimen. We attributed this to the steroids given during O infusions, but those are now in the past, and he is not able to reduce his A1C and

Do natural supplements work to reduce high cholesterol?
While strictly not a PMR issue I know there are a few whose cholesterol has risen markedly since being diagnosed. I am one of them. I have always had high-ish cholesterol but my last fasting blood test showed everything else perfectly normal but my cholesterol was up. I haven't seen the results

Any tips on raising HDL please? Thanks
Hi Vegan for almost 30 years now, age 52. Latest bloods. Total cholesterol 2.6 (<5) LDL 1.6 (<4) HDL 0.9 (>1.0) Triglycerides 0.6 (<1.8) Non HDL 2.25 Cholesterol/HDL ratio 3.0 (<5) So, all markers are ok except for HDL. I’ve read that vegans tend to have low HDL. Any tips to raise this please

Is It Always True that Prostatitis Patients Need Bed Rest?
Prostate disease can have a significant impact on a person's mental and physical health. If men have a good life and eating healthily, they can decrease strain on the prostate and minimize the symptoms of prostate congestion. Men should have proper healthcare of the prostate organ. Bed rest can effectively

Trial of Deferiprone in Parkinson’s Disease (Iron Chelation) Complete: Looks like it made PD worse...
So they completed the Deferiprone trial. I had not heard of the trial, but I had thought iron chelation could be a good avenue to pursue. Maybe iron chelation is still a good avenue, but it looks like this Deferiprone trial was worse than not effective. Sad to say but it looks like the placebo group

Latest Fish test results??
I just had another Fish test completed due to the fact that the Ibrutinib that I have been on for almost 5 years is not working as well anymore. In my first Fish test many many years ago I was Trisomy 12 .The new report now shows that I have acquired both deletions of 13q and 17p and still have Trisomy

Has anyone tried Glucotrust capsules and is this product from Maximum Edge any good?
A video landed in my inbox from a company promoting this. Long story about how the presenter had discovered the ingredients / formula from a Dr Kumar, at the time living in the States, now back in India. It apparently reversed the man's diabetes. I am naturally cautious, suspicious even. But I see

leg pain
I have been having terrible tight cramping pains in my legs when I walk. My GP thinks it is fluid retention and has given me a diuretic which does not help. I am wondering if it is PMR . I have been off prednisolone for 18 months now …does anyone had this type of pain in their legs with their PMR

Raised Creatinine in urine
Hello everyone I was diagnosed with PMR in January and am now down to 4.5mg prednisolone. Having piled on the pounds at first I have been on a low carb diet since March. I do eat quite a bit of meat and a recent urine dip stick test showed raised creatinine. Could this be caused by high protein/low carb

"Honeymoon phase" in Hypothyroidism?
After a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes (an autoimmune condition), there is often a “honeymoon phase” where a small percentage of the pancreatic beta cells continue to produce insulin for a period lasting from a few weeks, several months, to as much as 1-2 years. This honeymoon period continues until the

Had the 6 month check up consult with my consultant yesterday and liver wise all seems stable CP A meld 6 No too happy with him though. Luckily I asked for a print out of my blood results and when I got home I noticed a few were "off" He did not mention those but I took the result form to my GP today

Can the effects of Metformin, for diabetes 2, cause irregular urinary flow effects akin to that of Prostate Cancer side effects?
I have both Diabetes 2 from March 2020, when started taking Metformin, and Prostate Cancer, June 2022. I have had urinary flow symptoms from March 2020, seem to have worsened, could that be indirectly be a side effect of the Metformin?

Statins & Steroids
I’ve been advised to take statins due to high cholesterol levels of 7.0, Serum triglycerides 2.3, HDL 2.5, HDL ratio 2.8, LDL 3.4, non HDL 4.5. I’m reluctant to take more meds but I’m unclear of the meaning of all the results and if I should take statins or not. I’ve read some articles stating that

Gestational Diabetes (GD)
I've just been diagnosed with GD, it's my first pregnancy (34 weeks) and I'm so scared and worried. I'm ready to work with the midwives and dietitians but I'm also worried about my baby. Anyone with experience in this regard? How did it go for you?
