Definitely avocado, olive oil as Recon says, but also oats. And they are so versatile, as well as breakfast you can use them to bake cookies, cakes and bread...
I did an internet search for raising HDL and as previous replies say using extra virgin olive oil or some say coconut oil too will help raise HDL levels.
Eat purple foods, blueberries and blackberries, red cabbage, aubergine etc.
Also regular exercise but you're already a keen exerciser. Not sure if the intensity or duration of exercise makes a difference to your HDL cholesterol; might be worth exploring?
Organic nuts, I eat 2 x brazils, 2 whole walnuts and 5//6 almonds everyday of my life. When I first moved and had a new GP years ago he was surprised at my high NDL. I said that it must be the nuts, he laughed and said yes it probably was. All my friends laugh about my nut habit, they call it have nut will travel.
When I need to Remember which sould be Kept High & which should be kept Low ... I remember H is for HIGH (HDL) .... L - (LDL) means Keep the range (LOW) . Easy peasy.👍
My cholesterol is horrible but my HDL is pretty high …. I don’t exercise hardly at all due to Psoriatic arthritis nightmare but I do eat a lot of blueberries, cranberries and flaxseeds, Coconut Almond milk every morning in my smoothie.
Very high (250ish)LDL is (180) except my HDL(60) but this was over 6 months ago and I couldn’t tolerate 3 different statins doctor prescribed. During that last visit my doctor said”well” your numbers have been steady for a couple of years …. Lets wait and test again.. gotten worse with my thyroidectomy.
Apologies for being a broken record with a repeat message:exercise, intensive exercise for long periods (2-3 hrs daily) will raise HDL (among its many benefits.) I have been a vegetarian for over 50 years. Close to vegan, but do occasionally consume dairy. My HDL is consistently 90 or above. Obviously, HDL is partially genetically determined. But I increased from HDL levels in the 60s to extremely high HDL through my exercise regimen.
