Have Diabetes 2, height 5ft 9 inches, age 66, what weight would be ok to go for to go for a bid to get off prescribed metformin pills?

Was originally 17 1/2 stone in March 2020 when diagnosed, now 15st 10, sugar and cholesterol level ok, still too heavy, but target weight? any rough suggestions?

What is your HbA1c reading?

Could not tell you? My diabetes 'GP' is my ex GP in the local health practice, a right twerp🙄, took blood and urine samples, but did not take my weight, not too popular with my sister, a "you've got pain, here is some pain killers, Cheerio!" [treat the symptoms never the cause doctor!]. I have PC but ironically losing weight via new sugarless diet, and running up and down stairs to the loo🙃🙄 [lost 4 lbs last 10 days], essentially PC treatment will start in the next few days, radiotherapy🥴 sessions! Had a graph somewhere in the house, but chaos here, lost it? About ten years ago I was threatened with diabetes 2 medication and statins, if I did not lose weight, I went to 15 stone, okay👍

Have you been diagnosed with diabetes 2??

Yes diagnosed in March 2020, [had a blood and urine test, in March 2020, weighed 17 1/2 stone] conversation with GP over the phone "You have been diagnosed with Diabetes 2, by the way you are now in full isolation!"🙄 I had to form my own diet, live in full isolation for the next four months, then help via two sisters over food run!

I think the important thing is to get your readings down. Do you know what your readings are or were when you were diagnosed?

A blood and urine test, ironically I got my dates mixed up, I went a week early, [if I had gone the prescribed date, I would never had had the diabetes test, 23rd March 2020 was lockdown date🥴🙄, I was well overweight, my father had diabetes, I had been 'near' for years, I have high blood pressure, although a lot of that is to do with my epilepsy stress. This diabetes GP never gave me ANY information about my diabetes 2, put me on metformin medication, I had my eyes tested Nov. 2020 & 2021, subsequently tested blood and urine in 2021 and 2022, that particular GP not present at any of these tests, just appointment dates sent via post, weight never mentioned, although I know that is important! He gave me new medication in November, [broke Health grill, eating ready made grub and too much fruit yoghurt, too much sugar in system] subsequently had a violent reaction to just before my PC CT scan, anal fissures, I rang up the medical practice, blurted out my story, told him I was reverting back to my previous medication, he said he would ring me back [he never did🙄] I had to retake my CT scan, which was successful🤗 Last ten days have lost 4 lbs👍

Well done. I insist on being given my test results. There is no reason why you should not be given them. Can you get them on-line?

Nah! a bit neolithic over here, worst NHS in UK, behind everybody else, heavily influenced by 'political' situation as usual, leaves a bad taste in the mouth🥴 long term experience, I'll just do it myself, I have not been 14st in 15 years, hopefully now retired and if I get over the PC🤞 I might? That particular GP is what you call a "Free Presbyterian Minister"🤮 plastic smile all the time🙄 have been an Agnostic for over forty years, not a good mixture! Sorry the medication mixture stuck in me presently, PC🥴, emotions all mixed up?

By law now all UK patients are entitled to their test results. Ask for them. I find they are quite useful as doctors quite often seem to get things muddled. My dictors told me that my CRP had dropped when in fact it had gone up, I pointed that out and she said only a bit, so I pointed out it was a 60% rise!!
