BMI and some other snippets from a book I’m reading
I am reading a book called a Fat and Furious by Steve Bennett at the moment. There is a lot of information and challenges to the current, and past, weight loss assumptions with input from the likes of Dr Malcolm MacKendrick, Dr Jason Fung, Dr David, Unwin, Tim Noakes and many others. Some interesting

Low Carb Down Under.
I watch a lot, a lot of videos, presentation etc on the subject of diet and health, but nowadays I am fairly discriminately when choosing to watch or not, as I am completely on message. However, occasionally a gem emerges. This is one such, and one I am watching again. As links don't always work, go

SALT!
Remember that the average body NEEDS 6gm of salt a day and that it's insulin, not sodium that drives hypertension. Insulin hangs on to sodium, sodium increases blood volume which drives up blood pressure and thus elevates pressure on the kidneys. Typical of anyone with T2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome

Low carb diet has increased uric acid level!
Hi All, I have been on this merry-go-round journey since March. I am currently on 9mg prednisolone and have told to remain on that dose until I see the rheumatologist in September. Tapering like many of you has been not very straight forward but I have been doing lots of things to help my body adapt/

Day 10 of stims, need to increase lining, caster oil / L'Arginine?
Hi everyone, so had my day 9 scan yesterday. Not amazing but as expected with my low amh ( have two big follicles at 12+/ five at 10+ which will hopefully catch up!) But as normal my lining is thin ( about 6 ) so I'm currently on... 1 avocado a day, lots of whole milk, ridiculous amount of fruit and

Random question - rosacea and gluten free?
Hi - sorry for the random question, but as this site as been so helpful re- all things thyroid, I thought I would ask! I’ve just started on a gluten free diet and after only a few days my tummy is already so much happier. I also have rosacea on my nose (think Rudolph the red nose reindeer!!). Like

Elevated hypo symptoms. HRT and or Flaxseed.
Hi all, me again. I have a dilemma, My recent issues regarding extreme hypo symptoms which were resolved by stopping HRT. I also stopped taking a very high dose of flaxseed too at the same time and am now thinking which one was the culprit or was it both. I had been on HRT for seven months with no

Pancakes
Ayup playmates. How about this for a very simple low-carb pancake recipe? 2 eggs, 1 heaped tsp Psyllium Husk, 2-4 tbsps double cream, enough milk to reach your preferred consistency. Pinch of salt. Mix the ingredients together to make a pancake mix to your preferred consistency. I found there is enough

Newly diagnosed, feel really lost.
Hi, I have just been diagnosed today with type 2 diabetes and am totally clueless. Everything online seems so conflicting and I am scared to eat anything as I am unsure what I am OK to eat and what I should not be eating. Any advice would be great

Anyone lost a lot of weight managed not to have loose skin?
Since early March I've been determined to lose weight for health (and vanity - have to be honest). Happy with weight loss of over a stone since then (joined LCHF in June). I've lost 4 inches from my waist (was an 'apple') but I can already see fairly loose skin and I still have 3 stone to go and don't
