Hi everyone, im new to the liver section. Im a member of other sections but this is my first post on here. I have a lot of health issues, and am now awaiting further liver tests as i have high ggt ( for a very long time) and now elevated ALP. Scan showed very large fatty? liver. I dont drink. I am on steroids for other reasons, and have been for years. My cholesterol tests were high and my triglyceride at random test was 2.89. But on a fasting triglyceride test it was 3.89. Does anyone know if this could be in anyway normal to be like that? My GP says it can be because youve been fasting , but everything i can find, and my other specialist ( rheumatologist) says shouldn't be like that. As i say, im waiting on my liver specialist appointment. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi and welcome,

If you have a fatty liver you may want to read our Non Alcohol Related Fatty liver disease publication:

You may also want to discuss fibrosis ( stiffening/scarring) testing ( FibroScan ot specific fibrosis blood tests) with your consultant.

Good luck and keep us posted.
