Almost 12 years ago I had surgery to remove an adenoma on my parathyroid gland. The surgeon not only removed 2 1/2 parathyroid glands but also did a complete thyroidectomy. There was no cancer. The surgeon said my thyroid was small and fragile (I suspect he didn't know what he was doing. I live in

“Careful is when you get hurt”
In my last post I offered up a problem with the use of DAs, but no solution. My father once told me "never go to your supervisor with a problem unless you also have a solution." The solution to the problem presented in my last post is a short-acting, natural (whatever that means) substance that has a

Amusing Story
I saw my MO yesterday. Since UCLA is a teaching hospital, I usually talk with a resident, or the physicians assistant, before the doctor comes in. This makes time with the doctor more efficient, and helps with teaching. Yesterday she sent in one of her students to talk with me. Along with the usual

Hypothyroidism and glucose levels
I have been thyroidless for almost 12 years (as well as hypoparathyroid). Glucose levels have usually been in the top part of the range, but lately they've jumped higher. Found one study that indicated hypothyroidism is associated with a faulty increase in hemoglobin A1C levels. This could lead to

Do I have to go up to 60mg pred again?
I started with 60 mg pred in July 2021. Even though I had many side effects from steroids, I did not have any more symptoms of GCA until I tapered to 10. I then started to get headaches again and sed rate and CRP was a little elevated. Doc told me to go back up to 15. Headaches still didn’t go away.

Taking Synthroid in AM on Empty Stomach Causes Pain
Currently on Synthroid 100 mcgs. I’ve had this problem for nearly two years. Every time I take this medication—empty stomach/mornings—-I immediately suffer Right Flank and Right Back pain. I’ve had multiple endoscopies, colonoscopies and nothing shows up. Also told that I have adequate stomach acid

Looking for A “Silver Lining” - MRI Elastography
I know I should be okay with these results but I’m not and I’m also not insensitive to the many that have much worst findings. But I just keep looking at the future and I don’t see a light just a dark cloud overcast on the rest of my life. Being honest, my diet wasn’t the best since my MRE in January

Sugar and Cancer, a myth, never been proven.
I’ve read on the forum about not having sugar if you have cancer, this is a myth and never been proven. Your body needs glucose for energy, more so if you have cancer.
