Hi Today I had a zoom session with the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, my last bloods score was 48 (on the diabetic metric), I have pre diabetes and I am right on the boundary for the full type 2 scenario. In this zoom session they talked about blood pressure (mine is actually rather low not high

Thyroid Medication Generating High Glucose Blood Levels
Before my thyroidectomy I had no issue with cholesterol or blood glucose levels. After my total thyroidectomy I was started on Synthroid. Immediately my Blood Glucose level increased and I once was considered pre-diabetic. The only thing the doctor said was “that happens with some folks.” The last

Insulin & glucose in Parkinson's / Ketogenic lifestyle
hi, I am finding that the effect of glucose or insulin has quite an effect on mobility. Before, it seemed that protein alone would interfere with L-Dopa. Now it's not only that, but post-prandial somnolence that can lay me down for hours. Come the next day, I can pretty much lead a "normal" day (with

PCa-specific Survival after Radical Prostatectomy Is Improved by Metformin but not other Antidiabetic Drugs
New study from Finland below [1]. "Only postdiagnostic metformin use was associated with reduced risks of PCa death {53% reduction} and ADT initiation compared with nonusers." While Metformin users would be predominantly diabetic, it looks as though "nonusers" inxlude non-diabetics. "insulin and insulin

Feet numbness getting worse. Any similar experiences?
Hi all! I have a question about feet numbness. I was diagnosed with neuropathy caused by alcohol misuse a while ago, I have had some feet/toes numbness and I was able to reconcile with it and was doing fine. I stopped drinking in February of this year and in August my feet started to get progressively

Iron Supplements for those very sensitive to gluten
Hi, I'm being prescribed iron supplement (ferrous sulphate). GP assures me it is gluten free but GPs and Pharmacists don't understand gluten in ingredients. The pharmacy is not answering their phone when I call to find out the brands they have so I can do my own check. Any pharmacy prescribed brands

New insights on the effects of endocrine-disrupting chemicals on children
The possible impact of numerous substances on the endocrine system has long been discussed. But all too often dismissed. We have seen some specific substances hit headlines, such as Bisphenol-A (BPA), and widely claimed to have been removed. But no-one seems to question the other bisphenols - AF, B,

Treating autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA)
Does anyone have autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) along with your chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). I believe it occurs for around 10% of CLL patients. Any experience or knowledge about it would help. My Haptoglobin has gone from 39 in September to 14 this past week. As I understand it, when it

Iron Infusions - the type of iron used may matter.
Sooo, iron dextran (
dextrose
/glucose is a monosaccharide that unlike sucrose will cross the blood brain barrier) infused into RLS patients improved their brain iron levels and their symptoms of RLS, whereas another formulation did not. Wow!
