Thyroid Medication Generating High Glucose Blood Levels

Before my thyroidectomy I had no issue with cholesterol or blood glucose levels. After my total thyroidectomy I was started on Synthroid. Immediately my Blood Glucose level increased and I once was considered pre-diabetic. The only thing the doctor said was “that happens with some folks.” The last two years my A1C have been great but I still suffer from the “Dawn Effect” of high blood glucose upon rising.

8 weeks ago I added generic Cytomel and my glucose levels have jumped significantly. Anyone experience this and what was recommended?

One of T3 risks is, in fact, insuline ressistence (that is what I've heard).

No not heard of this but I do remember my chloestrol level & blood pressure being high before I was optimally treated. Once I was on optimum treatment everything settled down. No idea if this would apply to blood glucose levels. A colleague at work developed hypothyroidism and diabetes together .....she was very slim but ended up on insulin.

Im thyroid-less and my sugar levels also have increased over the past 5 years and my cholesterol is a nightmare and forget about doing statins those things have cause my psoriatic arthritis flare to increase 10 folds and one statin cause me to bleed which caused anemia…. Doctors and Endo’s are useless to help the cholesterol mess being thyroid-less has caused because they are so bent on lab results being in range.

Take cinnamon every day (Ceylan, not Cassia) and SEE what happens with your cholesterol in 3 months.

What has it done to your cholesterol?

How bad was your cholesterol before doing this?

How often and how much must you use to see results?

In my case, total cholesterol went down from 220 to 188. The only thing I changed was the consumption of cinnamon. Fortunately, I don't have glucose issues, but it does help preventing diabetes too.

What type do you use ? Did it lower your LDL ?

A little. But what's more important is the aetherogenic ratio, not just LDL.

PS. Be careful because it does not dissolve in water (it's not like sugar). It goes directly to the bottom. You can put it in on top of the cappuccino.
