DBS for OCD?
Hi - I suffer from OCD, but I am also a physician. I'm looking to interview patients who have gotten DBS for OCD to better understand what the experience is like, and to be able to better describe it to the medical community. If you've gotten DBS for OCD and are willing to talk anonymously about it,

Low iron levels
My doctor has advised me that my iron level is on the low side of the normal range. Should I take iron supplements to boost it as my doctor is happy to leave the levels as they are.

Methotrexate in the US
Since our Supreme Court has removed Roe v Wade allowing abortion something has happened that most did not expect. Women of reproctive age are being denied their methotrexate that they've been taking for years as a treatment for things like RA because it is also a drug used in abortions. I know that most

Strange iron panel results (part 2!)
I posted several weeks ago about an anomaly in my 18 year old daughter's ferritin results and received some really helpful advice from @humanbean and others. Her ferritin level from a Medichecks blood test was 75, however when her GP tested it a few weeks later it was just 15.4 and her Haemoglobin was

Rapid responses to daily subcutaneous B12 injections??
I was diagnosed with pernicious anemia and iron deficiency anemia 3 months ago. (I’ve had 2 iron infusions so those levels are better now.) The B12 injections are extraordinarily helpful. I’ve been getting them subcutaneously on a daily basis. (I can’t tell any difference between subcutaneous and intramuscular

Test Results after discussion on here
Hi folks, hot of the press so to speak and on the attached screenshot. The doctor's comments are below this message. They are not what I was expecting, especially as I inject B12 1mg only once a month, but data analysis works more than one way and unless I'm reading it wrongly, I can cancel out any sort

Iron advice for my sister
Though you guys might be the best to ask. What is the best iron supplement going? My sister needed 2 iron infusions before surgery and could only get one due to poor veins. She needs an iron supplement and I said I would get it for her. I want her to have the one that will be most beneficial to her..

“How Does Deep Brain Stimulation Change the Course of Parkinson's Disease?”
This very recent (May 2022) review was posted elsewhere (FB) and after reading it myself (it's open access) I thought it worth re-posting here on HU - for those interested in learning more on long-term DBS outcomes. https://movementdisorders.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/mds.29052?fbclid=IwAR3EaJVE5QUEQ165u7wKsneu2V3JHhs36YuQCiRHxjSrbhUXHTkr31qCafU

Iron Infusion
After years of RLS, several years of struggling on ropinerole, and the last 2 years on Neupro patches & Topiramate. Yesterday I was given my first Iron Infusion as a treatment option for RLS. There’s been lots of research by a Dr Earley at Johns Hopkins into an iron deficiency in the brain of RLS sufferers

Iron infusions
I have Restless Leg Syndrome, and also low iron (without anemia). However, I'm not able to take iron supplements as they're upsetting to my GI tract. My doctor is recommending an Iron infusion (this is putting iron directly into the bloodstream to avoid the GI tract). I've heard that this works for

Hello Everyone, I am seeing an Endocrinologist in a couple of weeks, I was diagnosed with B12 Deficiency last December and am having treatment. Unfortunately, my MVC are getting larger since treatment and I have been told to check out my thyroid. I have had my T3 free, T4 free and TSH blood tests

Before You Book (or recommend) That Iron Infusion
Please read the article embedded in this post to FreeGaza. In my unprofessional opinion, if you feel you must have an infusion then ask for Iron Dextran. Dextrose is a single molecule sugar that theoretically should be able to cross the BBB. Injectafer and iron sucrose, in my humble opinion, don’t stand
