Besremi for Covid and a different type of IFN-α 2b in Covid treatment trial
The Besremi guys did a small trial that reduced time to negative covid PCR test to 7 from 11.5 days https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8672342/ They mention a phase 3 but it seems no further action. -- There is a larger trial using an inhaled INF ( IFN-α 2b) as a treatment for infection

Worrying about Covid and not sure who to ask for help
I tested positive for Covid 13 days ago. As a vulnerable patient the NHS were very quick to react and within 24 hours I was taking the antiviral Paxlovid. (I was given a half dose because I have stage 3 kidney disease). I had minimal side effects from the drug and started to feel better very quickly

Relationship between GCA / PMR and vaccinations
My problem of a very stiff neck/shoulder pain started a few months after my first flu vaccine and first covid vaccine (Pfizer). After covid vaccine no2 everything got worse and after vaccine no3 I started to get CGA symptoms. Does anyone else think that there may be a relationship between the illness

I’m going to QE Hospital Birmingham tomorrow to be set up for Two i.v. Antibiotics to be administered at home by specialist district nurses. Haven’t had I.v. for about 15 years, had six courses that didn’t do job of getting rid of nasties that are partying in my lungs. Hope the two a.b.work this time

PMR flare - Covid 5 vaccination
Don't think this co-incidence but after 4mgs for last year, had Covid 5 jab (moderna - others were AZ and Pfizer) yesterday and woke in night practically unable to move. Took 9mgs, can now just walk but the familiar ache is still there. Hoping there is a positive to this, like immune system taken protection

Covid Vax Long Term T-cell Immunity
I posted this in a thread, but it seems worth a top post with recent info as there are many discussions on the vaxes, immunity and boosters. "Acquired Immunity" occurs by vax or infection. A large portion of the world has acquired immunity and likely T-cell protection. We saw last Spring in Hong

Managing covid risk when approaching / having treatment
I was curious to learn what others are doing to manage the covid risk when having / approaching treatment. I've been working primarily at home, try to meet people outdoors and have limited what me and my husband do together to avoid crowds. It feels like I'm missing out on a lot when everyone else is

PIP Review
Hi Everyone, I received the dreaded PIP review letter on Saturday. My condition has significantly deteriorated since my first application, but apart from a few telephone lung reviews and a care plan done earlier this year, I feel I have limited evidence - last spirometer test - Feb.2020. All evidence

Long COVID
Two weeks ago I was admitted with long Covid to hospital after collapsing on my lounge floor I thought it may be interesting for some of my fellow PMRers to read it. Long COVID seems to affect mostly comprised immune suffers. My home tests are still coming up positive after 14 days. ( my doctor

Reactions to Covid-19 Vaccination?
I see nobody mentioning debilitating side effects of the covid-19 vaccinations. How come? My experiences(o better each time) have been nothing short of horrendous. It takes a lot for me to take to my bed but in these cases I have had no choice. Completely 'filleted' and in agony throughout my entire

Covid at last!

IS LONG COVID A NEW AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE?
https://www.autoimmuneinstitute.org/is-long-covid-a-new-autoimmune-disease/ A hallmark of many autoimmune diseases, autoantibodies wreak havoc by recognizing and interfering with the body’s own proteins, DNA, and other molecules, known altogether as self-antigens. . . Evidence of a link between autoantibodies

Hospital madness
I’m pretty shocked tonight. I’ve been quite ill this year, spent some time in hospital, had a few trips to a and e, had multiple outpatient appointments over the last few months, my fear throughout was contracting covid when being so unwell and omicron rates were so high. I have to say that through
