I.v. antibiotics administered at home

I’m going to QE Hospital Birmingham tomorrow to be set up for Two i.v. Antibiotics to be administered at home by specialist district nurses. Haven’t had I.v. for about 15 years, had six courses that didn’t do job of getting rid of nasties that are partying in my lungs. Hope the two a.b.work this time! Will update in due course, fingers crossed, not happy that Covid is increasingly present, but despite my request that be set up at home, because of Covid etc, this was refused. Jean x

No, after 5 weeks had pseudomonas infection again, on constant antibiotics, send sputum samples, waiting results of one last Friday. Not too surprising I. V. Didn’t clear it, had six courses 15 years ago that didn’t work. Then took two antibiotics simultaneously, did job, but consultant doesn’t want me to do that again. Damaged liver, that recovered. Will keep posted updated, thanks for your interest. x

I didn’t see the information paper accompanying I.v. antibiotics, day after finished course, had very bad loss of balance caused sickness. Found leaflet in rubbish bag awaiting collection, loss of balance listed. Taking weeks to stop, still on specific medication for it. X
