I've had Covid now for 19 days, but at this stage I don't know if it's long covid or just a long time to have Covid. The fatigue is random and debilitating but apart from that symptoms are mild. I think in he UK doctors are more aware of the possibility of Long Covid, some hospitals like mine even have a Long Covid specialist for the numbers of cases. I don't thnk we know yet whether long covid is linked to other conditions, but there are certainly overlaps. I do wonder whether people are being offered steroids for it, they migh well help as they certainly help with my PMR fatigue
Sounds horrible Yulik. I was advised to stop the methtrexate for a couple of weeks and tried to reduce the Pred just by 1mg, but even that 1mg made such a difference and the stiffness hit in the next day. I persisted for 3 days then have upped the Pred again and feel much better, less stiffness and fatigue. So I guess what I'm thinking is that although doctors tell us to reduce the Pred to fight the virus, if our bodies still need that dose to control the PMR then we can't actually reduce? I've put this to my rheumatologist to think about. I remember in the early days of Covid doctors panicked and got people off even low doses of Pred that they'd been on for years and they had flares and relapses, we had a few cases on the helpline at the time.
Long Covid is defined as more than 8-12 weeks depending on the expert. Some of them are "just" the virus having triggered an a/i disorder which could have happened anyway but the effect is the same: long term illness ...
